<4½ months

2026.20 was released 25 JUN '25. That is <4½ months apart.

Updated & for what little it’s worth…..

So, tried use my MacBook to update and aborted when it said was going to take 2 hours and upload speed in the 0.7 GB/s. D/L Garmin Express it to my new Window 11 desktop and connected my DS65. Started out claiming 2 hours 3 minutes, in fact it took 11 minutes, transfer speed was at best, 32 GB/s but most at 27.7.
My DS 65 device storage shows 3.77 GB free and my SD card at 0% full with 32.03 GB free.

This is the 3rd this year,

This is the 3rd this year, right? Pleasantly surprised since it was starting to look like 1 update a year might become the norm.

Thank you

I thought I was about time

Garmin cleanup

Don't forget that when you update a map a copy may be left on your hard drive. In my case the file is about 9 GB in size. Very many of those files lingering around and you could be running out of hard drive space. I run Windows 10 Pro and the path is

C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Downloads

Thanks for the notice

Updated without issue on Win 11 and a Nuvi 2598.

Reminder, you can removed any downloaded maps or older installed maps for Basecamp to free up space on one's computer if needed.

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love...

I'm ignoring the possibility that this is a coincidence

Not so good. Drove two ways for an errand. During the first drive the DS-51 rebooted at least once. On the return it got hung up on the warning screen and the "accept" button didn't work. Re-booting with the power button may have required >2 minutes.

Not off to a great start. I'm ignoring the possibility that this is a coincidence and has nothing to do with the update (which included a time-zone update).

On it!

On it!

Thanks!

Downloading it now.

Updated...

My good old nuvi 3490LMT with no issues.

I'll blame the sunspots.

thank u, I will trek out to the cars after I clean up.

Started process by...

updating Garmin Express to version 7.27.0. This is my normal first step in the process since I seldom update GE between map updates. GE update DID NOT change or enable "Launch GE when computer starts" or "Always keep GE running in background" settings in GE's General Settings. YMMV -- so it's always worth checking!

Then updated maps and TZ on nuvi 2455LMT and 2555LMT. No issues, smooth update installation and took about 38 mins per unit. Did all updates using a Windows 10 laptop (yes, living on the edge).

Also updated the POI files we use. Good timing on map and POI updates. We're now ready for the trip next week!

I do not know how?

With my iPad and iPhone I get download speeds of 350 mbps but in my laptop the network card is limited to 100 mbps. I don't know how some people can download the map to the device and computer in 30 minutes.
Wish I knew their secrets, or do they just update the device only ?

There's parts of the US that have 5-8 gbps (symmetrical) internet speeds. Att offers 100-5000 mbps in my area. I have a lowly 1gbps plan. Good enough for our needs.

My phone tops out around 700 mbps over wifi (when near it) - it's a oneplus 7t from 2019. The laptop will do 800-900 (again, near by). On my desk it's good for 350-400 mbps. This is about 25' away and through a few walls - wifi6. The desktop has a 2.5gb nic, will saturate internet and get 2300 mbps to/from the nas or ~290MB/s (megabytes). The rest is overhead.

Excellent

Have my maps updated in time for Thanksgiving travel. Was hoping for that

My laptop's ethernet connection is capable of gigabit speeds, but the plan I have through my ISP is limited to 500gbps. The map download speeds however are dependent upon the device being updated.

Both my DriveSmart units (65 and 76) took a half hour to update the map. All my older units took an hour to 90 minutes to update. The reason is the older units, being far more limited in their internal storage than the DriveSmarts, rely on MicroSD cards to store the map. The MicroSD card slot is orders of magnitude slower than the internal storage. In the case of the DriveSmart units, both have sufficient internal storage to not need a MicroSD card.

That may be it !

2026.30 NA Not Showing Up for my nüvi 1370T

I have a nüvi 1370T with a lifetime maps subscription but Express on both Mac and PC and Garmin Fleet Updater (PC Only) both don't recognize that there are NA maps on the unit and only shows the installed Europe maps under map details. BaseCamp and the device itself both read and can use the NA maps. Anyone know if Garmin quietly pulled NA map update support for just the 1370T or is there something I am missing? Thanks.

Did the 1370T come with lifetime maps for both Europe and North America, or did you buy lifetime maps for it? If lifetime maps were purchased, I assume you'd need to buy both lifetime maps for Europe and for North America. This link didn't mention lifetime maps being included for both maps.

1370T vs 1370LMT

He mentions it being a 1370T and not 1370LMT. That means he likely bought his maps. Based upon the described behavior he only bought Europe and didn't buy North America. For this unit he would have had to purchase both to get updates for both.

Thank you.

just

did it.

I notice that with the Drive 53, I look in the downloads map folder, and nothing is there. It used to be the hard drive gets smaller and smaller each time by gbs.....forget how much maybe 4-6?

Seems like today it goes directly to the device

johnatash4

Sounds like Garmin Express was set to install the update to the computer only when you ran the update.

Use Garmin Express. Connect your GPS to the computer, select "Map Details" then City Navigator North America 2026.30 "Map Options". Now scroll down and select "Install to Computer". When you first install a map update you have to select the option to install to both the device and the computer, or it will only install to the GPS.
