Connected Car Devices

I am interested in hearing who here has added internet connectivity to their vehicle(s). Honestly, I didn't pay real close attention to this until a bit earlier this year. I found out this spring about the AT&T ZTE Mobley with $20.00 per month for unlimited internet. I then bought a mobile hotspot device, switched SIM cards, and I have been happy with it.

Free Public Domain Movies - TV

A lot of early movie and TV content is in the public domain. Here is an excellent site to view and legally download some old shows:

Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – October 2017

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Plot GPS Travels on Map

We'll pick our "new to us" motorhome next month and want to keep an annual record of where we travel around the US.

I know I can download .gpx tracks from our Garmin RV 770 LMT-S. what software is best for plotting with the ultimate goal of producing a map for use on our blog?

Thanks

Self Driving Cars

I'm curious about a number of aspects about self driving cars, but I will restrict my question to three items. Hopefully someone can help me understand.

I know the car has many sensors, but I've also seen suggestions that you have to clean the snow from sensors, at the present time. Will the car work in the winter?

I'm going to be using DOS V6.2.2. to upgrade a scope in a week or so...

To upgrade firmware in a scope... So Option Board will become active.
As it turns out, NVRAM Chip won't erase or reload firmware, so after a new NVRAM chip arrives:
Save engineering files from scope to DOS.
Power down, removing 'Main Board' from scope....
Un-soldering a NVRAM chip from Main Board..
Soldering in an IC Socket...
Installing new NVRAM Chip in socket....

Google Maps Vs. Google Earth

This may have been discussed before, but it seems that Google Maps satellite views are lagging behind Google Earth views.

Example:

4004 W Commerce St, San Antonio, TX 78207

Locate that address in Google maps and switch to satellite view. Zoom in and note that there is no drive-up ATM visible in the parking lot.

CCleaner problem

It was just revealed that the CCleaner problem had nothing to do with Malware but is/was directed at large IT firms.

See:

At the beginning of this week, it was reported that award-winning, hugely popular computer cleaning software CCleaner had been bundled with malware for almost a month with its official installer.

Which file has the standard street addressing ?

I am searching to understand which Garmin file contains the standard street addressing data - I have a person who has lived in a house for 2 years, but on some GPS units it does not know that street, or address at all.
I am thinking that the .img file includes the streets and street address data - is that correct ?

Windows Creator & Windows Edge

Microsoft just loaded Creator series last night, but didn't have time to read the details.

Needless to say they want me to default to Edge, and have been routinely telling me it's better than Firefox.

I don't do a lot of fancy stuff.

I'd appreciate a few thoughts on this. Also, can I import my bookmarks from Firefox to Edge?

Fogo: GPS, Walkie-Talkie, Flashlight And Backup Battery

I have been following few different devices that work with a smartphone to keep in touch without cell phone service. Beartooth, GoTenna, Gotoky, and Sonnet are a few of them. A bit ago I ran across the Fogo website online. It is a flashlight, with GPS, etc.
