I have a Nuvi 2460LMT and have been trying to upload some of the great POI files I've found here. The folder I created has a mix of GPX and CSV files, when I use the Garmin POI Loader it hangs up at around 29%.
... without using the Panoramio website? What's the easiest method you've found?
I don't like the way Panoramio pictures are so small.
Can anyone tell me why the Grainger Industrial Supply USA POI file won't show up when doing a search for 'Grainger'?
There were no changes in the file but I did just resubmit it to see if it would show up but it still doesn't show.
I downloaded about 150 POI files to my Garmin Nuvi 5000 in the last two days and almost all worked very well. I did run into some files with fatal errors however that need attnetion. I could not load these due to errors:
Worlds Best Truck Stops
I'm fairly new to adding POI's to may Garmin Nuvi 265. When I load several POI lists to my Garmin as separate CSV files (e.g., Cracker Barrel, Drury Inn, NFL stadiums, etc.), do I have to specifically choose a POI list on my Nuvi for them to show-up, or does the Nuvi automatically show all of my POI's?
Good Morning All:
Question: How do you add an icon to an excel poi file that you have created so it automaticly is included when the file is downloaded? Thanks for all the help you all have given me over the years!
can you put poi's on this gps??
I posted the POI "Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monuments (CSV Format)" at http://www.poi-factory.com/node/32279 on 02/14/2011, but when I'm logged out, the page says "Access denied. You are not authorized to access this page."
Is anyone else able to access the POI "Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monuments (CSV Format)" page?
I'm just curious. When I send (via email@example.com) a bmp icon for a poi file how can I associate with that file on the download page or does Miss POI do that?
Or is there some other way of sending the bmp?
I compiled multiple POIs and saved them to my hard drive. I copied the same files to the SD cards on a zumo 660 and on to 2 765T GPSs. All of the icons show on both the 765Ts but only some of the files show icons on the zumo 660. It isn't the zoom problem. All of the bmp files are 8 bit, 24x24.
Icon is OK in these files on all GPSs -
Rest Area, H-D Dealers, Walmart, Grainger
I have been able to create a CSV file Load in to navi 1260 and display an icon on the screen at the locations.
The next thing I want do is display the name on the screen. Is there some sort of code for that?
It's been a while since I've been on here..
I have completely overhauled a conversion utility I mentioned on here a couple years ago.
I think anyone who maintains a POI list will find this helpful:
change the name of a POI file? I have made a file that has been published, "Fly Shops in California", and was wondering if the name should be changed to "California Fly Shops" so it is listed along with other California files in the alphabet list of files! Any problems with doing this?
I was wondering if you can place a created POI in more than one catagory, ie: In both Sports catagory and Outdoor catagory! Thanks for your replies.
I have a nuvi 1450. When I ran POI-loader (2.5.4), I had the cemeteries.csv, cemeteries.bmp, and cemeteries.mp3 in the same folder.
It loaded the cemeteries file, but I get no proximity alerts or icons.
Do they publish a POI Files for Dummies? I've read all of the POI FAQs here and it has yet to sink in.
my POI file after I uploaded it to the POI Factory. I noticed some errors and wanted to edit them but have been unable to find my file on the POI Factory. It has not been published as yet (takes 1 or 2 days) so when it is that is when I can edit it, is that correct? This is my first attempt in creating a POI file. Thanks for your comments,
There doesn't seem to be a standard on how the gps coordinates are given when i consult the guides and internet
36° 5' N 115° 10' W
N42 09.762 W78 17.779
How do i convert to the standard
-xx.xxxxx,xx.xxxx that i use to create my POI files
Is there a software that can help me
I've been trying to go to the Turboccc page and Trend Micro is warning me that the page might try to transmit malicious software. Is anyone else getting this warning? Has there been an issue with their site or software?

I have been writing CSV files using comma's. Well with the help of you people I found out that was wrong. So I went in to Excel and found where I can replace all of the comma's with semi colons or something else.
Looks like most if not all of the Home Depot csv files give errors. Looks like too many LFs.
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/12306 this is Home Depot USA.csv
That file is just a mess because it is formatted wrong. I have sent a message over to the file manager to see if he would like to fix this himself or transfer the project to another member.
