Wafflehouse POIs

I downloaded the Waffle House POIs and am finding them to be off by several minutes. I have already correct three of them in the Northern Ohio area. I think whoever submitted the file made an error in conversion of the Long/Lat. I went on a wild goose chase twice, so I went to the Waffle House website and looked them up and sure enough they were miles off from the file. Just a warning.

@donham. Where did you send the files to? If you sent a complete file to the site it may not be used because the site is trying to stop duplicate poi files.
Did you send corrections to the file to the maintainers?
Which Waffle House file did you use because there are 3 of them.

The Zaxby file shows up to date which means it is being maintained. Did you send the updates to the maintainer via their contact? That is generally the way to get the file updated.

Which McDonalds file did you use? Mahoney keeps the main one (McDonalds USA/Canada) up to date.

....is great when it comes to maintaining his files. Whenever I send something to him, it is added or corrected within a day or two, depending on how busy he is. As stated above, the best way to get a correction is to send the correction to the maintainer.

Wafflehouse POIs from wafflehouse.com

I've been working on getting a better file from waffle house corporate. Try their map functions sometime and then use google street views and you'll find many of the addresses don't even match up with their locations.
Very frustrating but I've just about got and update for Indiana. I'm sorry I haven't looked at this in a long time but I noticed in my last trip to SC how off some of them where.

Sorry you had to find out this way

but the mass geocoding these companies use is usually wrong. I create my files using EPE which uses google. I will verify with google maps. Good luck.

Let me know of specific areas / States that need lot's of work.

I've sent a few corrections for Dunkin Donuts that I've found along the way on my trips, all updated rather quickly. Makes you wonder if Mahoney has nothing else to do.... grin

Waffle House POIs

I've been doing ALOT of updates to my original waffle house locations that was originally a simple address lookup of Lat,Lon using Microsoft Mappoint and the address given by www.wafflehouse.com. This worked poorly.

My new method involves taking the www.wafflehouse.com locations and using google maps / satellite view to street view eyeball EVERY location and then use google to Geocode "What's here" a particular location as seen from the street level....I'm reporting to google where they too have mis-located MANY waffle house locations.

I've got 5 states left,
Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia

Hopefully I'll be done by Summer 2012.

Big Job

An accurate WH file will be appreciated.

waffle house poi

Except for the few remaining states, you should find this file pretty accurate.

Florida now up to date

I've only got three states left on the Waffle House CSV
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/30060
NC,SC and GA

waffle house poi

Of course NC, SC and GA will take a little longer since there are so many locations in those states.

waffle house poi

SC done and updated.
NC half way done.
GA there sure are a lot of waffle houses in Georgia.

Wouldn't you know

The only time we were going to eat at Waffle House on our trip was in ... Georgia. Strike out. Oh well, we knew we would drive past one shortly.

Like Starbucks in the NorthWest

Finding a waffle house in Georgia is like looking for Starbuck's in Washington State!
You can't drive more that a few miles without passing one.
