Ace Hardware part of Do It Best?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows if Ace Hardware and Do It Best is the same company. I have been going through a POI I downloaded to fill in some missing info and quite a few of them don't show up on the Ace Hardware website, but when I look up the address on the net, it shows up as a Do It Best store.

Three of them operate as cooperatives: Do It Best Corp, from Fort Wayne Indiana, True Value company from Chicago Illinois and Ace Hardware from Oakbrook Illinois. Hardware store owners purchase stock in these suppliers and are "members" and "owners" as well as customers. A hardware store may choose to include the name of the cooperative in the advertised name of the store.

That sounds to me like Ace Hardware and Do It Best are competitors, not partners.

I just wondered why there would be Do It Best stores in a POI file named Ace Hardware. Unless possibly those stores were bought out by Do IT Best ??

I have seen Ace Hardware stores that do display the Do It Best name and others that don't.

Well, actually I've come across some other strange ones in this file. One was a location for a Cenex, and another for United Cooperative. Don't know how they got in there.
Do It Best vs. Ace
Two of the closest hardware stores to me switched their franchises from Ace to Do It Best.
I drive a few more miles as I prefer Ace Brand.

At the upper-right of this page (any page), just above "Active Forum Topics", is a link called "upload and share a CSV or GPX file." Click on that.

That would give a duplicate file on the site
@chris77 I assume you downloaded the "Ace hardware file". I don't see anything on the site for a "Do it Best". Ace Hardware is maintained by Mahoney. He is very active and up to date on his files. You should contact him via his contact tab with any changes.
