Garmin talk

Just purchased a garmin 265wt and installed it in my work van when the van is not running it gets great reception from sat's. Took me awhile to figure it out but when i start van I drop all statelite signals, Put radio on fm and signals came back within 2-3 sec's. I drop sat signal just on am radio only??? ( so far ) do you have any tips on how to fix this problem.

Greetings BTW Great forum... Quick Question.. I just purchased a Garmin 765T from Best Buy during their 4 day sale for $219. (Best price I've seen besides Amazon) This was an upgrade for my 255WT because I wanted the multipoint routing function that the 255 model did not have. Is there a quick way (other than typing all the favoites over again) to move them from the 255WT to the 765T?

Almost every time I turn on my gps now, I'm getting a message that my maps are old. Is it really worth updating, or should I just keep what I have. I could just about replace mine (c330) for the price of new maps. What do you think?

I received the email from Garmin announcing the newest Nuvi1690. I'm curious if anyone has purchased one, and if so what do you think of it? I currently have the Nuvi370 and have been looking at newer models. I like (on paper) the features it has including Google search, the 2 year traffic, gas and movie info.

If I remember correctly, Krispy Kreme has filed for bankrupcy.

Anyone know their status? I do know that a bunch of stores have shut down in an around Maryland.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Can nyone help a newbie? I keep seeing reference to the version number of the software and maps. Where do I look to find out what mine is?

I have a nuvi 265WT which has been a good tool. We live in the Seattle area and have used it extensively here. Also used it during a long trip through Wisconsin and then again for a trip in D.C., MD, VA, PA, NJ and it was spot on.

Changes made from version 6.00 to 6.10:
Corrected a problem with ecoRoute fuel economy when set above 40 MPG.
Corrected issues with FMI.
Corrected an issue with some devices reading incorrect battery charge level.
Fixed issue with Chinese map cards not working.

I recently updated my garmin to latest english voices. they seem softer than the old one.

I have a Nuvi 350 on my Harley, and use it's MP3 player for my stereo through a 3.5mm cable - so I can listen to music and have the voice directions cut in as needed. It works great.

But my custom speed camera alerts are also MP3 files - so when I come upon a camera I get no alert; it just changes to the next song on the MP3 player.

I heard that Best Buys will offer the Garmin 255WT on Black Friday. I could not find a 255WT listed on the Garmin website, but it is listed on the Best Buys website. Is this a special model for Best Buys?

I am looking to replace my Garmin c550. It has a nervous breakdown when in Downtown Chicago recalculating multiple times when I am on the right road heading to the right turn.

I would like something close to what this unit does without the Bluetooth and music. The custom POI's loading is a must. Traffic is not something I want included because of the pop up advertisement.

Given that MSN is dying out, and missing out on the unlimited extension...that morphs into free service for the final couple of years, I wondered what I would feel at the termination of my 3 month trial period.....

Anyone have a good POI that is just a very good scenic route outside the Atlanta, GA area? I like cruising the back roads, off the beaten path as far out in the sticks as possible. Don't necessarily want to leave GA to do a ride. Just want to get out of the hustle & bustle of the city for several hours.

Hello all....new to this website and Garmin as well. I am hoping someone can help with a couple of basic questions.

The specs for the nuvi 205W states (I think) that 1,000 POIs are the max for the base memory. Is that correct ?

If that is true, I suppose I could buy a SD card to hold additional POIs and related files such as the bmps and sounds. Is that also correct ?

The 10th of this month I bought an 855 which had 2009 maps. Garmin gave me the 2010.20 map update and now I see 2010.30 is out. If I'm interpreting their 60 day rule right I should also get the 2010.30 update right? If so, is it supposed to be automatic or do I have to call them?

I'm about to get a replacement Nuvi 780 for my Nuvi 680 from a Tiger Direct.

Question: Can I transfer the data, (favorites, icons, sounds and all other data) to my new Nuvi 780 when I get it?

How do I transfer favorites from Streetpilot c340 to nuvi 765t and keep the addresses and phone numbers. Mapsource and Easygps did not restore the addresses and phone numbers when I tried them.

Just upgraded to a 765T after using my 360 for 2+ years. I test drove a 1300T and a 1390T, but decided on the 765T (I like the blue tooth, the built-in dual microphones, and the ext mic jack).

I upgraded from 255W to 855. I copied custom POI alert & tourguide gpi files from 255W to 855 not thinking about a Wav vs. MP3 issue. 855 froze up after getting first truckstop tourguide alert. It did this several times on my trip.

Do POI files created using Wav files not work on units with MP3 players?

On the 885 T does anyone know how to CLEAR the trip log ?
