Garmin talk

In my neck of the woods, the MSN service seems to be quite useful. Leaving the 12v cable plugged in even while the unit's in the house yields nearly constant updated data. However I'm wondering what to expect when I leave my home area and travel, say, though Chicago.

Now that Garmin has released Beta versions of the POI Loader and Web Updater for the Mac does anyone have any info on when or if Garmin will have a Mac MapSource release?

The Costco Online price is the best I've seen anywhere. I paid $536 including tax and shipping. But it expires today!

Where can I find a listing of the POI icons used on the Nuvi 350? The manual doesn't define them and I can't figure some of them out.

Motorola RAZR phone uses the exact same usb port as Nuvi 350. My RAZR car adapter appears to work on the Nuvi. Do anyone know if I will damage my Nuvi's battery if I continue to use it to run the unit? Motorola use the 3.7v lithum ion battery. Anyone know the Nuvi battery specs? Please advise? Thanks!

I just bought Nuvi 660 at Costco.com. I can't mount on windshield as I live in CA. Where can I get suitable mount for a reasonable price?

Just looking for some assistance, about 40 min ago I went into the Garmin web site and updated my unit (c530) the screen keeps jumping from loader loading,loading maps... and the main screen for the StreetPilot, also I'm unable to turn the unit off, is this normal? This has me a little concerned any suggestions or do I just wait.

*******JUNE 15th, 2007 UPDATE********* - Garmin came out with a software update (Version 3.80 "Enhanced Touch Screen sensitivity") that appears to have fixed the problem. After updating and testing, the phantom and inaccurate key presses has stopped. Thank you Garmin for your speedy resolution to our problem.

Do you folks keep your car charger cord plugged into the cig. lighter or power port at all times, even when you do not have your GPS hooked up at the other end? Do your in-line fuses ever get blown?

Recently added the Nuvi 660 to my collection and after reading about some user's experience with the FM transmitter, I think plugging it into my car's AUX jack would made more sense.

Heck, the Nuvi is a computer after all, right? Are there any published hacks for the Nuvi 350?

By the way, does anyone know what CPU and OS are used on the Nuvi? And where can one see that?

I have been having a problem with MSN. It seems that if I don't use the GPS for a day I have to re-activate my MSN account. When I was recently in Seattle this was not an issue.

The last few days, when I have turned on my 660, it pairs with the phone and the phone icon immediately shows up on the map screen and it looks as if a call is being placed (even though I have not initiated a call).

Does anybody know if it is possible to add the POIfiles into GGarmin's nRoute program for use with it?

Anyone have the scoop yet on the next version of the maps coming from NAVTEQ, even an estimate would be nice, heard soon for a while now.

My Garmin: Zumo Connect

Just got the Nuvi 350 and I find it odd that in the built-in POIs, some places I go to are not listed in it. For example, was looking for In & Out Burgers around the immediate area. There are two nearby but it only listed one.

I just uploaded POIs into a new c550. POI Loader said that it uploaded 36,000 of them but even after restarting the GPS, none of them is visible under Extras. What might have gone wrong?
