Using DC Car Adapter with Nuvi 360

Can I use the car adapter with my 360 while navigating with the GPS? Or does run off the battery only? Every time I plug the adapter in the Nuvi it goes to charge mode. I have to unplug the adapter in order for it to navigate.
Are you plugging into the 360, or the mounting cradle?
Plug the vehicle charging cable into your mounting cradle, not directly into the 360.

I did not know that the mounting cradle has a connection for the adapter. I thought it was for the mic. I will look into this when I get home. Thanks.
