Hi everyone!

I have a Nuvi 680 and I was wondering if custom POIs will show up when I do "Where to?" searches for restaurants, etc? For instance, if I've downloaded the POI for Cracker Barrel Stores and I do a search for restaurants, will Cracker Barrel Stores show up on that list?...or will custom POIs only show up under the "Extras" section?

I recently purchased the Garmin Topo 2008 DVD and I am wondering if there is a way to find out which image file name is associated with what map segment in Mapsource.

The name in Mapsource (e.g. Moab,UT-CO East) does not provide the image file name (e.g. 00162774.img) that you see in the Windows Explorer.

How DO I do this? The POI loader has no option to install on the SD card. DO I simple cust and paster the files inside the garmin/poi folder into a garmin/poi folder on the sd card????? or are there other files that need to be moved. Please help....

I just updated my 330 to City Navigator 2008 North America. Now there are many streets in my area that lost their street names. A few major streets now show "CRXXX" instead of the street name. The names were there in the old map.

I have a E0mail out to Garmin but nothing yet. Do they come out with "patches" or free updates that you know of?

Being new to the GPS game, I've worked hard to learn as much as I could in the past 2 months. This forum has been great. Since the beginning, I've been d/l'ing information and POI files that appear to meet my needs as well as creating a POI file of western North Carolina attractions in Mapsource that I will upload as soon as it is ready.

When I plug-in my nuvi 250 to my computer va USB cable the unit comes on and shows a icon on the bottom of the screen showing it's connected to the computer.
When I try and turn it off to charge it nothing happens.
I also tried to turn it off BEFORE the maps load and then I get the "Charging Battery" message. In a few seconds it turns on and goes back to the connected to computer icon.

I downloaded POI and have them on my Nuvi. Some of the POI files have icons and/or sound. What must I do to get this to happen

I downloaded a file in .csv and tried to use the POI loader and receibved dialog box with
"There was a problem transferring your custom POI's to your device. Please try running POI Loader again". I have 543 Mb on system plus a 2GB SD card.

Any ideas??

BTW I am a newbie on this site

I'm running a WinXP Home SP2 system. Mapsource is V6.13.2 and also shows City Navigator North America NT 2008. I updated my 2720 with the latest stuff at the end of August.

Since then I've noticed that Mapsource is really slow to load when I start it up. Anyone else run into this problem??? Don't remember having this problem previously.

does anyone know what the extra plug is for on the 2820 cig adapter? is it for another external speaker?

Hi, I have a Nuvi 660 for about a month now and no problems. Yesterday afternoon, I lost reception and the only time I get it back is when I power it up; but lose it within a couple of minutes.
Anyone else experience this, or know what could be causing it?

Do you set your vehicle selection to "truck" or "bus"? Why?

I've had my Nuvi two weeks and have been loading locations in "favorites". I noticed that the distance stated is much shorter than when I ask for a route. ie: 1539 miles vs a actual route of 1976 miles. I know the 1976 is closer to real because I've driven it X times before.

Any thoughts on why the difference?

I am trying to use Garmin's POI software however the buttons I really need to use are outside the window and cannot be resized or brought back in to the working area. What gives? is anyone else having this problem with the POI loader software? Many thanks!

Just got my Nuvi 350 and installed a couple POIs (traffic cameras). I drove through a couple of these areas today but my Nuvi said nothing. I looked in the manual and on Page 51 it says that I can turn on Proximity Alarms by going into the settings menu, then press SYSTEM, and should see a screen with settings for: GPS Mode, Units, Safe Mode, Touch Tones and Proximity Alarms.

I've been having quite a bit of fun with the voice files. I've made an English_Indian voice file that works great, but I can only use it as a replacement to the English_American voice. Renaming the file has no impact on what the unit sees, and you cannot change from one voice to another with the same voice name even though they are both listed. Haven't had any luck with the TTS voices though.

I would like to install the Map Update 2008 NT on my second computer to see this version in Mapsource. I ran the installation and it asks me to connect my c330 to it via usb. I got as far as the prompt to choose the lower 48 states or Canada and was afraid to go any further.

Had to send my 680 back to Garmin for warranty repairs. Wouldn't connect to the MSN Direct receiver - after trying resets to both the Nuvi and the MSN Direct receiver they sent an exchange MSN receiver/cable. That didn't solve the problem so I had to send the Nuvi in. And, the battery won't hold a charge that lasts for more than 45 minutes.

I'm a new Nuvi 350 owner who started out with a Mio C310x. The Mio for the most part did it's job getting me around the Massachusetts area, but the maps were fairly old.

I've read all the great reviews on the Nuvi 350 and decided to pick one up during the Ritz camera $299 sale. There are some things that I noticed that the Mio does better than the Nuvi.
