Garmin talk

I have a Garmin 1490LM (software 6.2, 2013.40 maps). I have built some custom routes using Mapsource(6.13.3) and saved as GPX. I have noticed when I use the GPX routes, my speed (in LR corner of display) along with the time (LL corner of display) vary rarely update. The navigation is correct and Jill talks to me but the time/speed display rarely update. Went on a 2 ½ hr.

I updated my Nuvi 650 yesterday. Then I went to Tools, Map, then Map Info at the bottom of the screen. It beeps but doesn't go to the info screen. Last year when I updated I had to go there to select the map, I can't this time. What have I missed when I updated??? Here's what I did:

+ I have an 8g SD card in my Nuvi
1) I used a 15g flash drive with only \Garmin on it.

Anyone having problems with their GPS

I downloaded the latest map update, with Garmin Express, to my 2GB SD card and was only able to load the lower 48 because of a lack of space. I just bought a 4GB card and it is telling me the same thing.

When I try to select all maps the continue button is grayed out. When I used the old update system, before Garmin Express, I was able to do complete maps with the 2GB card.

I am having trouble getting Mapsource to save a .gdb file as a .gpx file. First the error message "out of memory" appears. Subsequent efforts to save a .gdb file as a .gpx file merely freeze the program.

On my 660 how long should it take to get Satellite Reception. I went out to a open area and it sometimes takes about 5 min. Is this normal for the 660, I have not used it for sometime now.

I just installed a new after market battery in my old 660. I had it charging for about 30 min from my PC, when i turned it on there was still only 1 bar lit, how long should it take for a full charge. I now have it hooked up in the car charging.

I'm considering upgrading from a NUVI750 to the 3795 and wondering if loading POI's I created from the POI Factory is the same as for my 750?

I'm still happy with the 260 I'm using in our 2005 Mini, but if any Cooper owners out there have a little too much disposable income, this might appeal.

Since I have the lifetime maps, I am trying to update my Garmin to the latest maps. When I try to update, I get a message indicating that I do not have enough space on my Garmin for the updated map. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can to the update? I do not want to call Garmin because I do not have 2 hours to spare by waiting for one of their technicians to answer my question.

I had posted recently that I was looking at using the vehicle specific mount in my Chevrolet Silverado for a Garmin Nuvi 350/360, but didn't realize until tonight that Garmin themselves have a https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/prod8556.html Nuvi AMPS Adapter Mount!

Garmin just released a new firmware update for the Nuvi 2597. It is version 2.80. Sure hope that this corrects some of the issues that I've been having like the route turning right when the gps tells me that I need to turn left.

Is Garmin Base Camp really worth the time? I'm going nuts trying to use it..

I have an old Nuvi 255W.
Somehow (don’t ask, I don’t know) two files are corrupt.
(gmapprom.img and gmaptz.img)
I believe it is because it was left on and the battery ran all the way down.
It works with the exception that most streets are missing.
Garmin no longer has the files on their server to update this unit.

Just got back from a 1300 mile round trip through Las Vegas and the north rim of the Grand Canyon.

I have "Unpaved Roads" checked as an avoidance on my 2595LMT. Navigation is set to "Faster Time".

We arrived from the west on AZ-89A and my Garmin routed us past AZ 67, the paved road to the entrance of the north rim of the park, to Brahma Road, a dirt road well east of AZ-67.

If this has been covered forgive me & point me there. I ordered the big 7 inch garmin 2797 LMT saturday at Best Buy , should be in wednesday. Anybody else using this nuvi...any issues? ..thanks Stan393

So far I can't say that I am thrilled with the 2595LMT. the 8 million POIs have already proven to be way off in actual location. The other complaint is that steering off the suggested path doesn't get a renewed path on the LMT. The old 660 seems niftier in these regards. I expected a little more for the money. ,artin

My wife and I discussed this weekend about the ambiguity of the school zone signs that read, "20 MPH when children are present." My understanding had been that if there are children actually visible that means 20 mph but otherwise the speed is the posted 35 mph for that street--even during regular school hours, Monday through Friday.

Garmin has opened a portal on their website which allows users to submit ideas for changes and/or new features to their GPS devices.

Currently the wording of the terms of use may need a little work but the fact that Garmin is even making the effort to hear what their users would like to see is encouraging.
