Stuck in simulator mode

Yesterday, I put in an address indoors while walking to my car and my Nuvi 765t went into simulator mode. When I got to my car, it stated that GPS was off and it did not log on to the satellites and stayed in simulator mode. I tried shutting it off but when I turned it on, it still registered at my original location and not where I was driving. I would like to know what to do to get out of simulation mode after it has started and start the GPS. Thank You.

.

The unit should automatically return to GPS navigation mode on a power cycle *and* when it gets a satellite lock (be sure and allow the unit a clear view of the sky). If this fails, try a soft reset: slide the power switch to the ON position and HOLD it there for ~30 seconds. If the unit is still in GPS simulation mode after it reboots, try to disable it in the GPS's menu. On the 765, it should be in Tools>Settings>System GPS Simulator.

The unit could also have mistakenly entered demo mode...Look at the developer menu - press and hold speedometer in trip computer for 10 seconds. Now look for item in the menu like "Demo mode" and try to turn it off.

If all this fails, try a hard reset...search the forum for 'hard reset' and you should find it. Be sure and backup your favorites since you'll lose them with a hard reset (again, search the forum...it's all here).

demo mode

when I held speedometer, I just got trip info so I guess it is not in demo mode. I am going to try a hard reset.

Read my post again...

I'll clarify:

1. From the map view screen, press the Speed field...You will be taken to the Trip Computer
2. From the Trip Computer screen, press and hold the center of the round speedometer dial (actually where the compass heading letters are displayed) for approx. 10 seconds.

This puts you in the developer's menu

Simulation mode

You have to power-down the GPS to get out of the simulator, at least that's how my 750 works. I think the 765 is like the 750 in that you cannot truly turn the unit off if it has external power. My 750 blanks the screen but remains active if it is powered through the cradle and the on/off switch is turned off.

Remove the unit from the cradle and then power it down. It should boot up normally when it is powered up again.
