Good ol' Garmin

I bought one of the 2013 line of Nuvi models, which supposedly work with Smartlink on the iPhone. Since I set the unit up and installed Smartlink on my iPhone 5, I have had nothing but problems pairing the phone/Nuvi. Finally, I wrote to Garmin about it. Here's the response:

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I will be happy to assist you.
Unfortunately, right now the nuvi 3597LMTHD is not completely compatible with the iPhone5. I don't have any recent data on when the compatibility will be updated.

Um ... so let's see ... for your 2013 product line, you have a nice feature called Smartlink, and it's available for download on the iPhone 5, which has been in the market for nearly a year. Yet the 2013 Nuvi is not fully compatible with the iPhone 5. What? The app is therefore pretty much useless on the iPhone 5? I don't recall reading that in the fine print of all the promotional materials touting the new app for the new product line.

Sheesh.

Not good

That does not inspire confidence. I have an older unit and havve tried the Bluetooth and was no impressed with the speaker... but them i'm not a big cell phone user.
