Garmin talk

Car dealers are introducing "On Star" turn by turn navigation built in with the car system specially on GMC, is it much reliable compared to our GPS units?

Is it VHF? I live up on the hill, and I have to drive 2 miles down to get reception.
With the FM TMC on the 660, it never is an issue.

Anyone have similar experience?

Hello everyone…. I am a new member here with a Nuvi 660, (2 weeks ownership). I love the unit and is a great upgrade from my Lowrance 350c…. I am having fun with the POI’s…. I downloaded the camera warning POI’s and it works great. Howerver I am getting warning notification from my Nuvi, 4 blocks from the intersections where the cameras are.. Any help on this would be great...

My best friend just called me because he was at a Costco store today and found that they are selling the Garmin Nuvi 680 for $480!

On occasion I get the "a better route is available" audible prompt on my c340.

I never see any way to select the better route.

I emailed Garmin, and the tech replied that a message
box should appear (like the low battery message) to give me the option to select the better route, or to
keep using the original route.

However, that doesn't seem to happen: no message box appears.

Does anyone has a Male Voice for the Nuvi 200. Can you share the file. Thanks.

Does any one knows how to create and upload tour guide in GARMIN 350?

When I upgrade my Nüvi 250W from 2.80 to 2.90 the info in the bottom-left corner of the map screen change. It now show speed, before it was showing time of arrival. The Documentation ( yeah, the 5 pages manual ) reffers to it as Speed or Time of Arrival.

Can and how can I change from one to the other ??

Yes, I'm new at this. How do you apply the alarm sounds to your nuvi 200. How do they work? How did you set up the alarm in your GPS, how will you set it up to sound? Sorry about the questions, just hope someone could help me. Thanks

I would like to be able to see POI's while driving in the map mode on my c340, I don't think its possible, just wondering if anybody knows for sure?

I can get to it and look at it, and understand the obvious. But what I don't understand is what the little icons (sun?, moon?, red dot?) are telling me. They are there, so they must be imparting some useful information if one know how to properly interpret what one is viewing.

I am a new user. Have had my c40 three day now. I have downloaded poi loader and have have loaded a few poi files from here. My question is , will the c340 accept mp3 files and if so if I change a csv file to a mp3 file will I get a audio alert when near poi?

Has anyone gone to Garmin Garage and downloaded some of the vehicles there? I tried this, following their directions..and it appeared to download, but....

I cannot find them on my Nuvi 360? Does anyone have a "clearer" explanation of how to download some of the snazzy vehicles?

Hello! I've just downloaded Redlight-Cameras.csv into my new Nuvi 660 using POI Loader. Original file when opened in Excel has 2665 rows, but Nuvi under Custom POI shows only 52. Is this kind of distance limit or what?
Same happenes when I load other custom POIs. For example, SanDiegoPOI.csv with 142 rows shows same 52 only. Any advise/explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Can I create a "track log" on my nuvi 350 while I am in an airplane to see the route we took across the country? I want to be able to upload it to Google Earth/MapSource and see our actual route?

Possible with a nuvi 350? I know I can with an eTrex Vista (which I have), but I'd rather use my nuvi.

I'm intending to get a GPSr for a friend who lives in Canada (BC) but crosses into the US frequently, so she'd need good coverage of both US and Canada. Can anyone fill me in on what models from experience have good map coverage of both areas, or if maybe a different manufacturer than Garmin might be preferable for this? Thanks!

Hello there. I'm a new Garmin user and a recovering Tomtom Nav 5 user. I received my new Nuvi 200 yesterday and am already impressed, but it will take some time to get used to it. The only thing I liked better about the Tomtom was the fact that it showed more info on the nav screen.

Ok I just got a garmin 660 and I have been trying (very unsuccessfuly I might add) to load poi's into it.
