I have a quesion about the Zip Code POI.... I downloaded POI file to the Nuvi but It does not show up in my Nuvi POI listings.... So were do I find the Zip codes?
.
It should be listed under Where to? > Extras > Custom POIs.
POI Zip Codes on the 660
Tried that and they are not there... My other POI's do show up....
Just bought a Nuvi 660.
Would like to know as well.
.
That's odd. Did you use POI Loader to load the file with your other POIs?
Same folder

Yes,all the POI's are in the same folder...
zipcodes_V.csv File....
When I download the zipcodes_V.csv file, it saves it as zipcodes_V.xls file.... It is listed as a .csv file on POI Factory..... How do I convert it.

The Zipcode file is a .csv file and saves as such; and, therefore, should not require any conversion. Are you doing a 'Save as ...' and selecting the .xls extension when saving?

.xls?
About the only way it would get changed into a .xls file, is if you said "Open" rather than "Save" and then saved it from Excel, rather than just saving it directly....
Just choose "Save" when downloading and store it along with your other POI's - then run POI Loader and tell it the same location.

Hornbyp....I have downloaded over 10 POI's from POI Factory listings and they work fine.... Please Download the Zip Code file and let me know what extention it saves it as.... Thanks...
.
Goodness knows I'm no Hornbyp, but when I downloaded the file just now it saved as a CSV.
Don't use Opera 2 download Zip Codes POI...

Thanks Motorcycle Mama.... Problem solved.... When I use Opera it saves the file as .xls extention... When I use Explorer it saves it as csv extention.... So I can't use Opera for the D/L... This is first time this has happened using Opera.... Oh well, hope this helps others using Opera.....

When you do a 'Save as ...', you can save the file as any extension desired ... in fact, you can save as any extension desired direct from the 'Save' option.

Attention: Mr + Mrs Melby :-)
Just had a look at the headers returned when downloading that file (and presumably all other csv files on the site).
Is this intentional?
Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-excel

Use Opera and it will not save as csv

retiredtechnician... If you have Opera installed, please D/L the Zip Code POI and you will see what I am talking about... You can change the extention but it will not save it as a csv file....

I don't have Opera; so can't try it. I'm surely not disputing what you said. What I was referring to was the possibility existed that even though the file was 'Saved' or 'Saved as ...', the extension can be renamed to .xls and saved as such.

Thanks 1speedman.
Hornby was onto something when he checked the headers. The zip code file along with some of the other files on the site are set Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-excel
Opera users may have troubles downloading the files that are set this way.

Opera
I'm not familiar with Opera, but seems like you *might* be able to force it to just save the file to disk...

Thanks Hornbyp.. I'm sure there are other members that are using Opera as their browser, perhaps there should be a heads up regarding this on the download area of the POI....
