Garmin talk

I am throwing this out there because I have noticed a correlation between failed firmware updates on units with a large trip log.

I've seen this problem happen several times to myself as well as to my customers. I've seen it on the 14xx units but I feel that it could happen to other models as well.

I have had my Garmin 2495LMT for less than three months and I am experiencing problems with the speaker. Most of the time it will work fine but other times I get a garbled voice and sometimes I get no sound at all; not even a ding when I turn it on.

Or is it just me?
Had been getting a "site is down for maintenance" for quite some time now, when trying to update maps.

We already have a post for the 25x5’s. I decided to start this one because I think we have the same issues. I have some posts in there.

I did a search and couldn't find anything on this so I thought it's be good to post. I just had a major headache trying to update the maps & software on a Nuvi 1450 with lifetime maps. Neither webupdater nor the new Garmin Express would even recognize the unit after connecting ot to the computer. Windows Explorer was able to search the device with no problem.

I can't install the audio alert file from MacBook Pro to my new nuvi 3580.
Can you help me?
I included the "sox" for Mac in the POI file directory and it does't works.

I was searching for Apple Valley Medical this morning on my Garmin Nuvi, but it did NOT show up. Finally, I found a completely different POI near there and then searced for all POIs nearby. I was somewhat surprised to see the Garmin Nuvi display:

my scren is frozen on my 3590 garmin. I tried shutting it down but is does not work. Any suggestions?

Although there are files on my 650 Garmin, they do not appear when I open Basecamp with GPS attached to my Mac?

I am considering buying an additional Garmin Nuvi. I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 now, but I am considering either a Garmin Nuvi 360 or Nuvi 370. When I do the online comparison, it looks like there are a few differences between the Nuvi 350, 360, and 370. What most interests me at the moment is the:

Several weeks ago, someone was asking for a unique sound and/or icon for every entry in a POI file. That got me to thinking how that might be done.

Not that this is something one would want to do routinely,but is it possible? The answer is yes.

I have a 3790T Garmin. The other day it fell off the windshield and I went to grab it and it fell on the dash. Now the left half of the screen is not working. I have done everything Garmin told me to do to recalibrate the screen and it is not working. I even did the hard reset and still nothing. Any ideas?

Hi. Has anyone experience a problem with the speaker on the car mount for the 3490 ?

Mine car mount speaker stopped putting out any sound. I tried checking the volume settings, mounting and unmounting the unit, plugging and unplugging the power cord and shutting down and restarting the unit many times.

The GPS unit DOES have volume and makes sounds when I remove it from the mount.

I'm checking to see if others with a nuvi 2460 (or probably the whole 24x0 series) has this problem. Ditto if anyone wants to check other nuvi models.

With my nuvi 750 and 855, the Garmin City Navigator NA map shows highway and street names--and also identifies road numbers in national forests.

Has anyone else noticed that since Garmin changed the layout of their website it is almost impossible to find the list of discontinued units? They used to have a link in the left pane for previous models and discontinued models. They still have a link for Previous models, but I could not find one for the older models. Maybe it is still there somewhere, but I couldn't find it.

I got the 2555 LMT that replaced the 760 one.

I want to load the red light and speed cameras into the new unit.

Do I need to follow the same process as I did for 760?

Is there any difference in the alerts/notifications in 2555 compared to 760?

Has anyone tried to integrate a Garmin Nuvi into your vehicle's dashboard as discussed here? I'm hoping to do this but have come across very few people who have tried it. Most go for the super expensive aftermarket kits with DVD, etc. but I really like Garmin best.
