Mini Cooper dealer installed GARMIN

Saw this product on the GARMIN website today:

I'm still happy with the 260 I'm using in our 2005 Mini, but if any Cooper owners out there have a little too much disposable income, this might appeal.

Interesting method to try and bridge the gap between factory installed (usually without the ability to load POI's) and the PND market.

What do you think? Best or worst of both approaches?

nice, but at what cost?

I would be interested in hearing what a dealer charges for this add-on. Around here, if I paid my Mazda dealer to do it the labor charges would be so high that I might as well have bought the overpriced factory nav system. Plus, you can't buy shop manuals any more, so it is getting harder and harder to figure out where to splice in additional wiring and how to properly disassemble key parts like the dash if you want to do it yourself.

Same mount as in Europe? Available in the States for a while?

Versions of this product have been available in Europe and in the US since I got my Mini (2008). Looks like the same mount, a bracket on the back of the speedo. And there's a power connection on/near the steering column for things such as GPS receivers.

The big change I see in this is the mini logo on the Nuvi!

I also seem to remember that the bracket they're using will hold the older (6xx) series, but not the larger, newer units.

Some Euro dealer installations also used Kuda mounts.
