Parking icon appears on my 2797

Before I query garmin, does anyone know why I occasionally get a gray 'P' icon on the right of the Nav Bar. I know it refers to parking but not sure why it appears all of a sudden.

Your destination is likely near the displayed (on the GPS) parking lot and the GPS is alerting you of that particular parking lot, just in case you want to park there.

Parking icon

A similar feature exists in the 2012 models (my 2495 has it). When you are approaching your destination in a city, a parking prompt first appears in the navigation bar on the top. It then appears as a square "P" icon on the top left corner. Touching it will bring up a list of available parking lots in the nearby area. Quite convenient if you are visiting an unfamiliar city.

Works like this on the 3597 as well.

Could be this, a NuLink service.

"Dynamic parking is a great service. As you near your destination a 'P' icon is displayed on the left of the screen. This has enhanced data on the car parks near you and can tell you if they are open or closed, and the associated cost of parking. Some car parks provide information regarding the number of spaces available and this can be displayed on the screen."

But I don't think so.

Screen shots from my 2495. I believe the the new 2xx7 and 3xx7 series have the same feature but displayed differently. Somebody with the new year-2103 models could post their screen shots for comparison.

They appear only when the Nuvi is in the Guidance mode and, I believe, when the destination is in a metro area with designated parking lots.

1. When you are about two or three minutes or so from your destination, a text message "(P) find parking" appears on the navigation bar:

2. The message disappears in 10-20 sec and a Parking icon appears on the top-left section of the screen:

Got it

I started to see this feature after the last system update. It does tell you where the nearest parking lot is but not if there are any spaces left. wink
