MicroSD Card Required For Future Updates?

I haven't updated my 3490LMT in about a year and I was reading that starting with 2013.20, it requires a 4GB microSD card due to expanded junction view files. Is this true?

Sorry...I've been out of the loop for awhile but wanted to check this out first before attempting an update.

Thanks.

Not true. The nuvi 3490 have 8gb internal memory that big enough for the new map updates.

MicroSD card max size

Does anyone know the MicroSD card size limit for a nuvi 3597?

Size Limit

I don't know the officially supported limit, but I have a 16 GB Kingston card in my 3597. I'm only using 2.1 GB with 12.5 GB free and it's working okay.

I

I think the official supported SD card size is now up to 16GB but it may still be 8GB on some models. Anyhow, 16GB cards will usually work fine.

Use microsd for what?

What are you folks using your microsd card for?
I haven't found any reason to use one in my 3790, since all the maps fit in the device.

Nuvin 1450 SD card

I have a 4GB in my Nuvi 1450 for no particular reason and still can fit the maps for the whole US. Is there a setting where you tell it to use the SD card? (I can certainly put an 8 or 16 GB in if it helps)

US vs. NA?

Do you really mean the whole US or do you mean all of North America? The 1450 came with all of North America.

If you attempt a map update for your 1450 (and your other three nuvis) and the updater determines that you have insufficient space for the full map update for which you're entitled to receive, you will be given the option to install to SD:

A 4GB SD card is sufficient for the foreseeable future for the full North America map update and the large Junction View file assuming you keep nothing else on the card. An 8 GB card would certainly work as well if you have one handy or find one at a great price.

space

I have a 2350 and had to add a MicroSD card awhile back as it said not enough memory when I went to update my maps.

I got the same message on my 3590 even though there was plenty of room on the unit for the update. Finally got it to install on the unit by using Map Updater, thanks to POI-factory users.
