Garmin talk

I have a 885 Garmin right now and I'm thinking of upgrading. What I need most is Lifetime Traffic and maps also I need a gps to show the street I'm coming up to at the top of the map. My 885 does not do this my old 660 does and a big screen. can anybody help me with this?

If I cut everything out of the GPX file and paste it in a folder on my computer. That should remove all from my nuvi2555 unite shouldn't it????? I have tried to remove the DATA by doing what gamin says holding pressure on the lower right hand corner and turning on the unit . But all that does is bring up all my passed things into the saved on the unit.

I have a couple of questions about my new NUVI 2555

1. How do I get my favorites from my old Zumo 550???

2. Is there anyway to turn off automatic recalculations?

am trying to put a trip in my nuvi2555 using google map . Was doing good for a while then it stopped taking anything. shows on computer that is going but when checking gps it is not there any help would be greatly appreciated

I looked through the GARMIN FAQ list and did not see anything
covering traffic - so I tried to summarize the subject with
a set of questions and answers.

Please have a look at what I wrote - I'm sure it is incomplete in some areas so feel free to add to it. When it passes
inspection by all of you it could be added to the FAQ list

recently purchased a garmin unit that comes with RealView Junction view. However I am yet to see an junctions appear so far on roads in New Jersey. Anybody with similar experience?

Anyone know the filename or a download link for the 2014.20 NA split screen JCV (US & Canada) so I can try downloading it?

When adding a poi with the loader all previously loaded pois are removed so you would have to reload everyone that you had, please let me know if this is right, also in manual mode do you set both speed and distance I have a 2360 and haven't yet succeeded in having this work right.
I have been emptying the poi file on the gps on the computer and restarting the process each time.

Okay, so this happened to me over a year ago, but I'm just now going to ask about it. I was hoping it would fix itself or SOMETHING, but nothing has happened.

I've used myGarmin.com in the past to update maps on my nuvi. I could install the map both to my pc, to be available to Mapsource, and to my nuvi. With the most recent map update, myGarmin attempted to download and install Garmin Express. I killed the install and used my old copy of Map Updater.

I have been trying all day to update my nuvi 50LM and keep getting message that connection to update service has been lost please wait. So I waited for long time and nothing happened. Tried to call Garmin and also they have 30min wait anyone have idea of how to get system up and running so I can update my GPS. THANKS

I downloaded Garmin map updater to my download file and then ran it. But after that I can not find where it installs on my windows xp computer.
Does it make its own folder or am I missing something?
I did do a search and found two files in Windows\Prefetch
they are Garmin mapupdater.exe.o and Garmin updater exe.2

P.S. not very good with working around computers

I've had a Nuvi 1450 w/ Lifetime maps for over three years and it does everything I want a GPSr to do. It has served me well, and I'm not interested in any other bells and whistles.

I made an external battery pack using 8 2450mah batteries and added an external lighter plug receiver. Any idea how long the GPS will stay on and will it cause any problems? I need to use it on a trip where no out is present.

Anyone know if the Garmin 2597 has mp3 alerts available? Or do I need to do that funky soe/wav thing?

Any comments on this unit would help.
Do the new Garmin models have rest stops included and if so do they show up on the screen the same way as the ones form this site do? Is there a alert sound that comes on? If rest stops are built in why would I need to download rest stops form this site?
Will this unit hold the latest maps without adding a storage card?
