Garmin nüvi 3592LM An Android-based Garmin Nuvi

I was looking at the information on line about the Garmin Nüvi 3592LM, which is an Android-based Garmin Nuvi. Granted, it is not available for sale in the Unites States, but perhaps it will be in the future. Anyway, would this interest members here in the US?

:(

Yeah, it seems like all the good stuff Garmin has to offer goes to the Asian market, and in the US we are stuck with the overpriced, under powered, feature starved junk.

Nice kit!

I'd be very interested in seeing how well that device operates. Android (Linux) OS, dash and back-up cams, plus a host of good features.

Garmin, bring that to North America!

But

also note that the backup camera requires a subscription. It aint FREE

.

Honestly, the back-up cam is useless for me. However, the dash cam with a 64 gig SD card would be amazing to have.

I love to cherry pick my features. smile

The prime value of a Nuvi is navigation ...

... have found no reported (consumer) evidence that there has been any real improvement in Nuvi navigation (as bells, whistles, & eye candy have been added to the line) & I can report none on our own 2 late version Nuvis.

... as for "Android, WiFi, subscriptions, smartphone data bla, bla," isn't the real value of any GPS, be it Nuvi navigator or deep woods hand held hiker, begin once you've left their grid?

... all of which doesn't even begin to address Garmin's practice of trying to sell newly announced products for list, while all the while, what you are actually buying is beta reliability & usefulness rolleyes

If this doesn't become available in the United States, I would be tempted to order one from overseas. I suspect that the only thing I would have to do if buy maps for the US. I think everything else should work, except perhaps their AC adapter might be different.

Get a Taiwnese version, Nuvi 3590, if you will

The Singaporean unit would come with an AC adapter that does not fit the US wall sockets.

The Taiwanese one (Nuvi 3590), however, would fit the US sockets. They come with Chinese manual though.

Dash cams

Just found out garmin will release their Dash Cam 10 and 20 sometime this spring. Looks like these units are standalones, without connection to the nuvi. Price seems a bit high: $220 for the 10 model without GPS and $249 with the GPS. They can be found on the garmin site; no manual yet available.

Why would it matter as long as you could plug in a US USB wall or,car charger to the nuvi socket. I assume they also use mini or micro USB.

I did try to order this recently, but none of the dealers that I contacted would ship it to me in the United States. By any chance, does anybody here happen to know how I could buy this?
