Garmin talk

Saw this posted at GPS review forum and may explain why I notice, and from other people's observations also, that every once in a while I see a much longer map loading delay. Also see why I should just let it complete and not shut off and restart.

Just made a somewhat long trip via Amtrak from Indianapolis to Albuquerque and back.

Here are the trip log comparisons I came up with my 750.
Definitions:
Trip Log - The one that is available on the 750
when bought.

Hidden Trip Log - The one where you have to
downgrade to software version 2.3 to activate.

Harley-Davidson has finally come out with their branded Zumo. I've had my Zumo 550 for about 18 months and it works great so I have no desire to buy another one. What the HD one has that would be very handy, is that is is pre-loaded with HD dealerships as POIs and that could come in handy on a road trip for service or swag.

Just tried installing this latest version on two systems. Boy, I've never had a software install act like this.

Version 2.5.2 installed in C:\Program Files\Garmin. This version installed in C:\Garmin on one system, and D:\Garmin on the other???? That is a completely differnet partition!

Anyone else notice this? Thanks

I know they have only been out for about one week,and I am looking for some imput on it. I have read that the voice is tinny on the 255 and I was hoping that they fixed that. How bad are the pop up ads? Does the Bluetooth work fine?

Recently purchased a 260W. I loaded a speed_camera.csv file I found for Phoenix, AZ that had only three listings.

Nuvi set to 2D maping.
Garmin loader V2.5.2
Files were loaded "NOT manual"

Just got nuvi 650 from ebay and want to save my favorites b-4 updating maps, etc. In explorer, I see a file "GPX". I can't open it but guess its either favs or poi lists I've down loaded from here. Can anyone clarify?

I drive for a living. When I need gas, I will be looking for a particular station via "custom poi". How can I turn off the alerts that accompany some poi lists?

I been using my Nuvi 680 for about 3 months and I just bought a Nuvi 760 for my wife, I payed for the "life time" service for my MSN receiver and I wonder if any one knows if I get a second receiver for the Nuvi 760 I can share the subscription in between the 2 receivers or I need to pay again for the second one.

Any advice??

I have a Nuvi 200 and all of the sudden it shows "no detailed maps found that support routing. The nuvi cannot be used without them." I have tried to find something to help me but nothing has worked. HELP!!

How would i load gpx files to my Garmin.
I have no problems with cvx files.

I turned on my C340 today and received a notice from Garmin that my maps have not been updated for such and such a time! Go and buy new ones.....
This is the first time I have seen this notice. Is this normal?

I've been playing with a series of 4 POI files for several months. I manually set the alert point to 2 miles (10,560ft). I'm puzzled about how my Garmin nuvi 250w handles these. I've read about the POI needing to be "on the road", but I would have expected a radius of two miles.

If the location is just 1/4 mile of my road, I don't get an alert. Is this the norm of the POI community?

When I registered the nuvi 200, it gave me an unlock code for the Mexico map. Do I need to do anything or does it unlock itself? (nuvi was connected during the reg process)

Anybody else try it? I was a little surprised, but happy, that my nuvi came preloaded with 2009 maps. When I first connect it updated the software to 5.0. (can not find any docs on what was changed)
I ask because I am have problems getting the custom poi icons to work. (yes, they all have the same name) I'm also using the Aug 2008 poi loader program.

I just saw over on GPSPASSION that 4.2 is available for download via Webupdater

Can I save the most recent routine when I arrive the destination? Garmin C530, 2008 map, 6.6 software.

I don't know why but my Garmin C530 sometimes will not show up the shortest navigation. It has the most current version of software and Avoidance disabled.

This is installed with the Techmount stem mount.
Also hard wired a 12v, circled but not plugged in.

I've been playing MP3s with a 5W external and also nuvi FM transmitter but i get distortion from random radio stations dropping in and out of the frequency used as i drive and also sideband noise from radio stations around the frequency used. ive tried every frequency and there is always some stupid radio station broadcasting at some point in that frequency band.
