Garmin - Update your maps!

I turned on my C340 today and received a notice from Garmin that my maps have not been updated for such and such a time! Go and buy new ones.....
This is the first time I have seen this notice. Is this normal?

yup.....every now and then this message pops up. Doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason to what triggers it. I ignore it. smile

Maps

I noticed that my older Nuvi 660 renders the Update notice each time after I download POI's and restart the unit.

Pop Up Notice to buy new maps

I have a 2730, 7500 & 76CSx and I have never had any such notice appear on any of my units ?

But I do keep the maps updated. I wonder if the unit senses what maps you have and issues a pop-up based on the date of the map or map install ?

I got a pop up like that on my

old C330 a couple of days ago. I don't use that one anymore, so I just ignored it.

Reads map date

Probably just a small script that looks at the map date and estimates if a new map is available ~ for purchase.

Sounds like a scheduled sales NAG to help raise revenue for Garmin.
