nuvi 650: saving favorites b-4 uplloading maps

Just got nuvi 650 from ebay and want to save my favorites b-4 updating maps, etc. In explorer, I see a file "GPX". I can't open it but guess its either favs or poi lists I've down loaded from here. Can anyone clarify?

I drive for a living. When I need gas, I will be looking for a particular station via "custom poi". How can I turn off the alerts that accompany some poi lists?

Thanks,

For your custom poi's when you load them use the manual mode and you can put alerts to just the ones you want. or make your file with the poi's but don't download the alert file that goes with it.good luck.

The GPX file you have located is the one you want to save to your computer/flash drive/disc. Those are the favorite places you have saved/entered.
The Poi's you can just reload from your Poi folder should that become necessary..

You can walk a horse to water, but a pencil has to be led.

gpx

I have a 660. inside the gps there is a gpx and a poi file. I was able to open my gpx using GeePeeEx, and it is my favorites. The poi file is the poi's that I have uploaded to the gps.

If you get a copy of GeePeeEx

You can download your favorites to your computer, then edit them. I have only used this on my c580.
