"No Detailed Maps"

I have a Nuvi 200 and all of the sudden it shows "no detailed maps found that support routing. The nuvi cannot be used without them." I have tried to find something to help me but nothing has worked. HELP!!

I'm not familiar with the

I'm not familiar with the Nuvi 200 series menu but I'm sure all you did was unchecked the detail map in your settings. I have a Nuvi 350 and the way I do that is by clicking settings, map, and then map info. From there I can check or uncheck the detail maps.

It will not even let me see

It will not even let me see the screen. It is blocked by this little message.

.

Yeah, the maps probably just got deselected. Try checking to make sure the check box is checked as described above.

Unless you did something to delete them. Then you've got a different issue that Garmin will have to help you with.

"no Detailed Maps"

Is there possibly a reset button?

Yes you can reset your Nuvi.

Yes you can reset your Nuvi. Unplug you Nuvi from all external power source. Then you press the reset button located at the bottom of your Nuvi. Then you connect the Nuvi to a power source. This will wipe all user data so use as a last resort.

.

If you deleted the maps, a reset button won't help.

So, let's back up.

What were you doing to (or with) the unit before this message came up?

Have you deleted stuff? Renamed anything? Moved files on the unit? Anything else?

Are you able to clear the message to get to the menus? Not having detail maps should not render the unit useless.

Messege??

What does the message say??

All i can tell you is that

All i can tell you is that we left it off the charger for about a week and we turned it on. The little message was there and has not left. I can turn it on and it says loading maps and gives 100%, then the information message to agree. When I punch agree - that is when the message box appears.

I can not do anything from

I can not do anything from that point.

Did You Make A Backup?

When you purchased the unit did you happen to make a backup of the files that were on the unit? If so, you should plug the unit into your computer and restore all of the original files and see if that works.

If you didn't create a backup, then it appears you will have to contact Garmin. They may be able to restore/fix it remotely, but more than likely you will have to send it in.

Unfortuately No! I have

Unfortuately No! I have e-mailed support several days ago but no reply. I will keep trying with support. Thanks to each of you for your help.

You can try to restore all

You can try to restore all to factory settings without a reset maybe. You may have all maps and data in the unit but changed some settings that messed things up.

You do this by holding your finger on the lower-right hand of the screen while powering on the unit. Keep your finger pressed until a pop up window appears. Touch "Yes" to clear all user data.

If this doesn't work then you may have corrupted or deleted the maps in the Nuvi. In this case if you made a backup of the maps you can copy it back to the unit. If you didn't backup the Nuvi then you have to call Garmin for help.

Are you good or what

It worked!!! Yeah
Now do I need to do something else to make sure this doesn't happen again? Thank you so much.
Now I have another ? Can I load the POI's that you guys are talking about on this garmin?
Wow! Thank you so much.

What worked?? LOL

I happy it worked but what worked??LOL If I were you I would make a backup of all data on your Nuvi to your computer. That way if maps do get corrupt you just copy it back. You can backup your Nuvi by plugging the unit with a USB cable to you computer and copy everything to your hard drive.

I don't know what I did but

I don't know what I did but it works. As on the Wizard of Oz "I Love You All"

See if this helps

same issue

My computer ran dead before I could finish the download of the new maps, and now I get the same message. I am trying to get back connected to re-install the maps, but the computer is not seeing the Garmin. Is there something I can do to get my computer to see it or get past the message?
