Apple has released new software just now for its customers, including iOS 17.6.1 for iPhone and iPadOS 17.6.1 for iPad. As for what’s new in iOS 17.6.1 for iPhone? The release notes mention it includes bug fixes and “addresses an issue that prevents enabling or disabling Advanced Data Protection.”

I was doing a search on my iPhone yesterday using Siri, when I suddenly got a pop up screen saying my phone was 28.6% damaged by two viruses! The message had a Google header that looked official. It said to go to the App Store and download an anti virus app. Unless I did this immediately, my Simm card, photos and contact list would be affected.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active PRO SM-T547UZKAXAA that we had been using with the Polaris Ride Command app for UTV navigation. My wife and I found out this weekend that the Samsung tablet is on Android 11 will get no more Android OS updates and the Ride Command app will no longer work with it because it needs Android 12 or newer. What are my choices now?

The final big update to iOS 17?
iOS 17.6 arrives late in the life cycle of iOS 17, and follows May’s debut of iOS 17.5. We’re two months out from iOS 18’s expected September release, so it’s possible there could be an iOS 17.7 on the horizon.
However, it’s also just as likely this is the last notable release iOS 17 will receive.

For anybody using a tablet for navigation, have you ever tried split screen mode and using two different navigation apps at the same time? If so, did it work well or was in confusing?

EDIT: It looks like it is possible. Now I need to take a crack at it.

My wife and I have been riding our UTV the past two days near Hill City MN. We have been using my Samsung tablet with the Ride Command app on it for navigation. She prefers that over Garmin on ATV/UTV rides.

On another forum, a member posted that Google Maps smartphone versions aren't in sync with the web-based version. I have never made close comparisons of one vs. the other. Has anybody here experienced discrepancies between them?

I had no idea that there is a DMD-T665.

It reminds me of the legacy Garmin cell phones.

Apple Releases Fix for Deleted Photos Reappearing: 17.5.1 Out Now

Apple has released iOS and iPadOS 17.5.1, which fixes a bug that was affecting some users where their deleted photos would reappear.

Apple has released iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 for download for both iPhone and iPad, plus more. These releases come after Release Candidate versions were made available for developers last week.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active Pro SM-T547U tablet in a Ram Mount Tough-Case for Tab Active Pro. It has a power cord with a USB-A connector. My wife and I used it yesterday in our Can Am Maverick running the Polaris Ride Command Android app. In the Maverick 12 volt power outlet I have a Scosche dual USB car charger. The car charger is marked on the side:

I happened to notice the monthly went up by $12. Of course, that is annoying.

I saw that each of 3 lines were being surcharged $4/mo for being outdated (called 5G start).

I was able to lower my mom's to $40, nice, $9/mo savings.

Apple has released iOS 17.4 for iPhone and more for download on Tuesday. Also available are iOS 16.7.6 and iOS 15.8.2 for older devices.

This update brings new emoji, transcripts in Apple Podcasts, other new features and bug fixes. The update is coming in at 1.68 GB or so for the iPhone and is available now

Apple today released iOS 17.3.1 and iPadOS 17.3.1, minor updates for the iOS 17 and iPadOS operating systems that were released in September 2023. iOS 17.3.1 and iPadOS 17.3.1 comes a few weeks after Apple released iOS 17.3 with Stolen Device Protection.

iOS 17.3.1 and iPadOS 17.3.1 can be downloaded on eligible iPhones and iPads over-the-air by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

New features and changes for the iPhone in iOS 17.3 include Stolen Device Protection, collaborative Apple Music playlists, a Unity Bloom wallpaper for the Lock Screen, and AirPlay support for select hotel room TVs.

Also available today is tvOS 17.3, watchOS 10.3, plus iOS 15.8.1 and iOS 16.7.5 for older devices.

Apple today released iOS 17.2.1, a minor update to the iOS 17 operating system that first came out in September. iOS 17.2.1 comes shortly after Apple released iOS 17.2, an update that brought the Journal app, spatial video recording, and more.

Apple today released iOS 17.1.2 and iPadOS 17.1.2, small updates to the iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 operating systems that Apple introduced in September. iOS 17.1.2 and iPadOS 17.1.2 come a few weeks after the release of iOS 17.1.1, another bug fix update.
