Welcome / open talk

have you ever had a knife sharpened professionally?

I'm gonna give it a try. We have knives from 2004 that are dull.

I tried running them through the device that has 2 sets of grooves for sharpening, no dice.

I happened to find an old, unused knife, so that being the reference, wow. It's dangerous.

was adding nitrogen yesterday

Well the temps have dipped so I felt I need about 2 more psi again, so I was at Costco.

While I was doing my car, I saw something interesting.

A man got out actually on the wrong side of the pump but the hoses do reach, and he was holding a tissue, so that his fingers did not come in contact with the valve cap. Was he avoiding germs or covid or what??!

what's the worst inflation you've seen?

At work, I've seen 100% price increase on a subscription based software, but generally price increases of 5% across the board, which is not good, but tolerable.

I know there are many examples now.

But I was on amazon and came across the Noco battery terminal felt protectors that I paid 97 cents for last year. Amazon is selling them now for $9.89? lol

Will they ever come back to < $1?

15.0.2 out for IPhone

IOS 15.0.2 is now out for IPhones. Security and other updates. Took about 5 minutes for the update.

going to proactively change car battery

I think unfortunately they went up like 25% at costco.

The one I have is a full 5 years old, no problems, but it doesn't pass a load test.

This week we're recognizing, Melaqueman!

Melaqueman's been a member of POI Factory for over 9 years!

This week we're appreciative of information on new Toronto, ON Red Light Cameras.
The city used to be better about announcing new locations ahead of time, so it's helpful when locals email us new camera locations as they go up.

Thanks, Melaqueman!

Google Maps is now an App on Windows 10

On Windows 10, Google Maps has always run inside the Chrome browser. That can still be done, but many Google Maps' features are missing. For example, the Saved Places are no longer visible.

A Google Maps app can easily be installed on the PC and all the features are there:

I don't know about you guys, but according to Traceroute, Facebook doesn't exist! Did some hackers take ol' Zuck out?

That means the name servers can't locate it. Whois has the registration, but not the name servers.

interesting observation / 2 cars PA state inspection

Since my cars aren't remotely new, I do dread the annual safety inspection. Emissions I do not, if I don't have a service engine light, I know my emissions are good.

Well, both cars passed.

The $29.95 coupon is $42.50 hahahahahahahahaha $9 sticker fee, sales tax, shop fees, amazing.

still driving much less

Because all our state inspections are coming due, I looked up the mileages on our 3 cars.

My wife's SUV is the family car and it went 6,900 over the last 12 months.

My daily driver which was doing 12-14k shocked me--1,400 miles.

Our 3rd car is like 200.
