Miss POI

Can anyone direct me to a POI that will show the Propane filling locations in the US and Canada. I have an RV and occasionally need to refill.

While scanning the Outer Banks of North Carolina, using Google Earth, I found two interesting objects.

there are speed cameras going up near most schools that are on major roads. There are 5 within 4 miles of my home it is hard to go on any route without having to watch for any of these. I don't normally speed but sometimes my mind might be on something else and missed slowing down. Two tickets in 2 months and that was enough to order a new GPS and download the POI.

13 weeks ago when I joined POI-Factory, I thought, this is a great place and there are knowledgeable folks here willing to help and I still think that’s true.

I went to Chicago last weekend and my Nuvi 350 worked great, however, when I was driving downtown the little car on my Garmin acted like it was lost. When I drove a few more streets it was fine again. Are there any tricks to getting better satellite reception downtown around the taller buildings?

Would you rather have an automated device send you a ticket in the mail for an infraction or would you rather be pulled over by a cop?
I don't know about you, but being pulled over by the police these days can be scary since you never know what you are going to get!

I've installed a software update that analyzes POI files and shows the US states and Canadian provinces that have locations in the file.

The tool is accurate to within about 5 miles. Some locations near state / province borders may be uncertain.

Right now, the tool only works with CSV files.

I work in the Unix world all day, so I understand computers fairly well, just not up to speed on PCs.

Turned off firewall (Zone Labs)
Turned off Norton utilities.

This forum is so useful. We frequently take road trips and I love using the POI files created by the folks here.

I have been successful downloading the CSV files. Sometimes I get the bmp file, but not always. I haven't learned to use the other type of file (CXS?).

I'm having trouble downloading the bmp file that goes with Diners, Drive ins and Dives file.

I'm a late adopter of the GPS technology. I bought a Garmin 260W from costco last week for $169.99 without enough research. The nuvi 750 is for 199.99 on costco.com

The device is great and seems to be functioning as it is supposed to.

Given all deals and models out there, I'm not sure that I bought the right one. For me,

I now suffer from the dreaded auto-turn-offs. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does what a pain in the butt.

Had been using an OLD Magellan Roadmate with 3+ year old maps. Decided it was time to enter the modern world and got a Garmin Nuvi 265WT. First time dealing with a GPS that has so many neat features. Learning something new every day.

I have noticed a lag in turn directions on this unit, specifically I am actually driving past the street when it then prompts me to turn at the street I just passed. (I am driving at 30 MPH or less for info). I performed a reboot of the unit and this fixed the problem for a rather short period of time, week or less and then delayed prompts return.

This week we are recognizing Lwwill7999 and Hautedawg.
