important poi files?

Hey all
Sorry to say ive been away from the site for a little while what with school and all of the fun stuff associated with that. I'm going on a cross country trip leaving sometime later this week. I am just wondering if there are any must have pois that have recentlty appeared that you would reccomend for this trip? any reccomendations are appreciated. Thanks

important poi files?

The combined reststop poi for sure. Depending on how you are traveling, campgrounds, walmarts, redlight camera's, speed camera's only if they are widley uses in the area's you will be traveling. There are numores ones but again it depends on how you will be traveling and what you want to see or do. Have a safe trip

POI's

Rest area's of course
Campgrounds?
Gas station's if POI available
Favorite restraunts
Favorite stores?

how long

Maybe if you could let us know how long you've been gone from this site so we'd know what 'recent' poi files to recommend to you.

The rest stops are under

The rest stops are under siege. MrKenFL does a great job of keeping this file up to date and I certainly recommend it, but beware that budget cuts are forcing some states to close rest areas. There may be some that are closed that have not made his updates. I see you have a Mini-Winnie, so the facilities may not be as important as a place to pull over if your are taking the RV.

Along those lines, Cracker Barrel restaurants are RV friendly and nearly all have some spots reserved in the back for RVs and buses.

If this as leisurely trip, you might also consider:

There are also a number of POI files for the National Parks and Monuments.

Offbeat Tourist Attractions

The Offbeat Tourist Attraction POI isnt necessary, but it is fun. I have mine set both as a proximity alert (TourGuide), in my own voice, saying: "There is a offbeat tourist attraction in the area". Also as a regular alert when actually approaching one. I dont usually stop at them, but they are fun to see what is coming up. Makes getting there, more funner! I have made several mp3 alerts for my own use. I would share if someone wanted one.

Also, the reststop poi alert. I set it for 3 miles, with the toilet flushing .mp3 sound. A sound I really looked forward to hearing after drinking that bottle of water, or cup of coffee.

I like to get alerts for travel plazas too. Especially the FlyingJ alert. Need to set it as a proximity alert using TourGuide in the name of the file. Most travel plazas are slightly off the interstates which most of us travel.
The other POIs are a matter of taste.

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

would be an invaluable tool IMHO
