Garmin Nuvi 750 + Linux

I don't have access to Windows or a Mac but would like to create POI files for my Nuvi 750. Has anyone here tried this?

POI files are CSV format.

I suppose you could use Open Office to create POI files. The POI would need to be saved in a CSV format.

Try downloading one of the various POI files (in CSV format) from the 'POI Files' tab at the top of the page. You should be able to view the file using the Open Office spreadsheet tool.

People using Windows would use Excel to view the CSV files.

You would need to create and save your POI file in the same program that you could view it from.

The problem you will have is downloading the POI into your Nuvi 750. The programs that I know of to download POI files to a Garmin device is for Windows and Mac.

Below is the Garmin links for the POI installers you can download:

http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3697 for the Mac.

http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=927 for Windows.

Is there a linux version that will emulate Windows? Perhaps you can download the POI loader program, emulate Windows and run it to install your POI files to your Nuvi device.
