When I logon to "Unread Posts" I am seeing duplicated message topics that have duplicate topic, user, & times, everything except for the forum names. Happens in IE7 and Firefox 3.5.3 so I believe it must be a forum software bug.
An example:

I've seen the same thing for a couple of other postes on the site. Also once you read the thread and clik the unread tab again both post disapear.

Software Bug?
As someone who's been writing computer code since the early 1980's I'm just guessing here, but I think the problem is that the software is indexing on the topic name. So, if two topics are created with the same name, every time either of the two are updated, then both of them appear in the unread list.
I suspect that if you mark either of them as "read" then both of them will disappear from your unread list.
Dialup, or older computer?
I would suggest this is one of the above. The post seemingly stalls, so the user hits 'Post' again, creating a double entry. I've seen this a lot.
