I use the Extra_POI_Editor, and set 200 Ft for places, 1500 Ft for Rest Stop, and Travel Plazas, 100Ft for RR Crossings, and 500Ft for troublesome local speed zones. This allows me to use the express settings since I am still REALLY playing with my new toy.
I set rest stops at 15,000' or about 3 miles. Flying J truck stops I set as a TourGuide at about 2 miles, because lots of times I will never get an alert, using a regular alert distance, even when passing right by a Flying J, while on the interstate. Probably 5% of all my alerts are set as TourGuide files. Unless your place of interest is on the road you are on, you generally will NOT get an alert unless you set it as a radius alert.

I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.
How far?
I set te alert for rest stops to 2000 ft, I might bump it up to 2200 ft. For the red light and speed poi file downloaded here, I except the default.

How do you do that? I have EPE.
You set a distance in Proximity. You can set them all the same using the CTL-R shortcut.
