Battery Charge Level for Long Term Storage??
At some point in the near future I'll be upgrading my Nuvi 260 for a Nuvi 1450. The plan is to put the 260 into storage as a backup in case I lose or damage the new unit. I know that the battery will last longest with a charge of about 40% and I usually keep the 260 in the fridge when I won't be using it for a week or more to help preserve battery life.

Just saying hello
Hi All,
I'm new to the POI files, but they look very cool and I'm sure once I get the hang of these it should be very helpful.
I have a Garmin Nuvi 360 and I am currently trying to get all my locations I have added over the years downloaded to my Mac. No help from Garmin on this one yet.
I'm mostly looking for and want to create off road way points for exploring in a Jeep.

Windmills?
Oh the elusive icon. I've been a member for 46 weeks and relatively active. But not in the "posting" area. I get one or two weeks of active status then am traveling. So, I get no windmill. Oh woe is me.
Wilt thy windmill be soest mine? Nay perchance I do fully believe.

Red Light Cameras
Red light cameras are springing up all over. Too bad they have little positive impact on safety. But, in these tough economic times they are certainly a way around "raising taxes".

Converting MAPS not POIs
Anyone out there know of a program that converts MAPs? I found a interesting map that is apparently for MAGELLAN, but not for TOMTOM.
Check this out!:

Interesting collection of crash videos.
Examples of what we would all like to avoid!

As you will see in this video, even if you drive safely, many others do not.

GPS for bicycles
I'm looking for a mapping GPS for my bike. I'm mainly interested in using it for navigation; its ability to provide the sort of info you get from a bike computer would be a plus, but very much secondary, as would heart rate.

Question on Low Clearance POI Files
I tow a large RV so low clearance areas are a big concern when travelling in new areas. There are many sources that list this information, both print and electronic.
My question has anyone ever compared the POI file found on this forum to the one on http://www.lowclearances.com/ ?

Free Open Street Maps (OSM)
Just returned from Britain where I was using the free OSM available from http://freegeographytools.com/2009/free-routable-street-maps....
It worked very well. Maps were well detailed, all roads, including minor lanes seemed to be included and all were well marked and named.

The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) today released the findings of their 2009 Bottleneck Analysis of 100 Freight Significant Highway Locations.
