Confused about "My Recent Posts" feature

I was trying to retrieve a previous post of mine so I went to "recent post" under my account and then selected the tab "My recent posts". The result is a list of topics I have looked at and maybe participated some times ago but they are sorted by the most recent update by anybody so it makes it difficult to locate my own posts.

Am I missing something? Shouldn't "My recent post" list .... my recent posts?

.

That is the list of all threads you participated in, arranged by most recent first. You could try doing a search using jale, but I can't think of any other way to just separate out your posts.

Don't think that works

I tried that, using my user name, and I got a list of threads I had posted in, but when I click on one, it brings up the start of the thread, not my post.

So this is a suggestion for future improvement...

Then it seems we have a missing feature on the website: A smooth way to access ones posts (sorted by date for example).

Please put that in the suggestion box.

Search

It seems to me that the search function is a weak spot in the POI Factory interface. Maybe improving Search is something Mary Ann and Jon will look into for a future release?

I think what dminz meant was to pull up My Recent Posts and do a CTRL F (search) page by page until you find your name under the Author column. Those are posts that you started.

Yes, but...

That will give you the threads you started, but not take you directly to any individual posts you may have made within a thread someone else started. You will still need to open that thread and look for your post.

Isn't that what jale is

Isn't that what jale is asking for? If not, I must have misunderstood his post.

Access to the posts

Actually, I was looking for a way to retrieve a post I had written. So getting me to the thread is not really useful, in particular with some threads extending on many pages.

I have often wondered the same thing about recent posts

I have often wondered the same thing about recent posts and the search function on this site.

On some other forum sites I use such as corvetteforum.com it is very easy to see just the actual posts I made or another member made. Also you can search by a word or phrase and have the choice to display the threads or the actual individual posting's that contain it.

Search myself

I've found that often the fastest way to find posts I've made is to just search on my own username and then search the individual pages for my username again.

Not very efficient, but about the best one can do here.

Agreed it would be great if there were a list of "My posts" where clicking on the link would bring you not only to the thread but jumps you right to your (1st) post in the thread.

This is probably my biggest, and maybe only complaint about the site. Considering how useful POI Factory is, this is minor quibble against all the benefits.

Because we use Drupal

Because we use Drupal instead of some of the other forum software it is harder to program some of these options.

I will let Jon know and see if there is a fix for it.

Miss POI

Seems to be a coding flaw

This beyond a minor quibble, it makes things hard to find that someone has posted. It needs to be addressed, however suggestions seem to fall on deaf ears.
