Keeping the Windmill Alive - Your last trip? – September 2013

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Hi,

I know I can use the Garmin .csv files to add custom POIs to a Rand McNally

The installation instructions can be found here:

But how do I load custom images to go with it?

Kind regards,

What is Windmill?

Hi all
I have a question. Sense I registered here at POI factory for 2weeks. What is a windmill? After I posted comment I got this message.
Message "

...once you have your windmill, you have free access to The Factory's redlight and speed files.

You've been posting for about two weeks so you should have a windmill soon." Please let me know what this is.

Spell Checker?

Did this site get a Spell Checker, or is IE 10 now using a spell checker when you enter text into panels? If I make a misspell, I get a red squiggly underline. Right clicking on it lists selectable spelling options.

I have the full MS office package, so I guess it may be using that dictionary if IE 10 is responsible.

I just recently upgraded from XP to Win 7 and IE got updated also.

Here 5 years?! Where did the time go?

I just looked at my account page and see I've been a member of POI Factory for 5 years today. I found the site after buying my first automotive unit, a Garmin 260.

I've had a good time, "met" some fine people, created a bunch of POI files that I hope others have found useful, and was even honored once as a COW.

Download of .CSV works ok. Garmin POI Loader makes it a .GPI but MapSource can only read .GPX

What do I do?

Google Earth vs Google Maps

Good day to all members,

Could you kindly tell me do I obvioulsly need to install Google Earth to find coordinates for building my POIs files?

Most of the time, I use Google Maps with the right-click on the place what I want their coordinates.

Google Earth is more, same or less accurate than Google Maps?

What kind of infos you can get more with Google Earth in lieu of Google Maps?
