Welcome / open talk

Best Super Bowl Commercials (GPS People's Choice Awards) ....

Enough with hearing from those with business interests, consultants & Madison Avenue types ... Plenty of opportunities for creative categories here:

-The ad that will most likely generate sales from this family: The Next Transformers Movie (whatever it will be called).
-The quirkiest: Stephen Colbert's Pistachio Two Part.

Keeping the Windmill Alive - Your last trip? – February 2014

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

Benchmark Hunters??

I realize this site is mostly concerned with the navigation aspect of GPS usage, helping solve equipment issues and sharing interesting POI information. The wealth of subject matter provided here is just fantastic and many contributors have devoted a lot of time and effort in posting content. For that I am grateful and wish to say thanks!!

Traffic Cameras In DC

Starting Feb 1 traffic cameras will begin reporting drivers who block intersections, roll thru stop signs, fail to yield to pedestrians, pass thru an intersection at an unsafe speed, or take an oversize truck or bus on a street too small to accommodate it. Rolling thru the stop sign $50, all the rest $250.

This reported today in the Washington Post.

It is so cold that ...

It is so cold that:

-Your Nuvi has formed a partnership with your w/your vehicle's temperature sensor. As you approach single digits the Nuvi starts flashing "I can find warmer POIs for you ... honest I can!"

What Makes an Existing Topic Show Up as Having "New" Posts?

I am wondering why, when I log in and go to "Recent Posts", sometimes I'll click on topic with "New" next to it in red, but when I get to the topic there is no new post or recent update at all.

For example, it has happened several times with http://www.poi-factory.com/node/3724.

GPS On A Cruise Ship

My family and I will be going on a Caribbean cruise in a couple of months. I am thinking of bringing a GPS along just to see where we are and how fast we are traveling. Will it work aboard the ship or will other electronics cause interference to it?
