Contributors Of The Week 2016-03-14
This week we are recognizing, pb46!
Pb46 has been a member of POI Factory for over three years. He doesn’t maintain a lot of files and isn’t always the first to solve a new issue in the forums.
However, he is consistently on my radar as one of the people who spends a great deal of time on our site. I won’t say he reads every new post, but it might be pretty close.

Simple Text To Speech Program
Can anyone suggest a simple Text to Speech program? I used to use the AT & T lab demo program, but it is no longer available for free.
I want to create periodic .wav files to announce things like "Rest Area Ahead", "Toll Booth Ahead" etc. The AT&T demo had a number of male and female voices, was and had a spot to type some simple text. You could save as MP3 or .wav.

For those using smartphones to navigate, I'm curious
do you have unlimited data? How much data does your navigation usually use in the course of a month. My girlfriend and I share 3gb of data per month. That is more than enough for her to use the Square and post items for sale online for her business. I rarely need to use data. I cannot imagine using the smartphone to navigate would be data friendly but have no personal knowledge.
TIA

This week we are recognizing, mahoney!
With nine plus years as an active general maintainer and two COY’s, it’s difficult to find something to say about Mahoney that has not been said.
I stopped counting the number of files he maintains because it was making me dizzy, not to mention the colossal task he took on at the start of this year, maintaining the Rest Areas Combined file.

You should Also backup your computer
(John steps up on his soapbox)
Last night I watched a segment on the ABC News about "Ransomware" - where malicious code gets on your computer and encrypts files and then informs you that you can only gets these files back by paying a ransom.

Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – March 2016
In danger of losing your windmill?
Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).
Anything to keep your windmill alive.
This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Side note: I was out all of last week with an awful sinus infection, complete with two full days of vertigo!
I'm on the mend now, but still not working to full capacity, so if you have sent in information, please be patient as I catch up.

Hello all - And a question for you clever people
HI all
I have question and I've been searching this site and everywhere else on t'interweb and can't seem to find the exact info I need. So this seemed like the perfect place to ask.
I need a very specific function when I'm working. I need my gps or phone or whatever to alert me when I'm in the proximity of a poi. Easy, right?

This week we're recognizing a new user who's been working on POI projects for the local area around Lake Havasu, Arizona.

EPE Sort By Location
Hi all,
This what I want to accomplish:
In a POI-file find the waypoints that are within a certain distance away from a central point (most of the time that would my home). This would be a way to find destinations suitable for a daytrip, so the distance would be in the order of 100-150 miles. I would also like to extract those entries to a new file.
