Garmin talk

I was picking up a 80K BMW M5 for a client yesterday at a dealership here in Dallas and noticed that BMW is selling some sort of Garmin that looked like a nuvi 350, but it of course said BMW on the front where it usually says the brand name. I noticed though that it says it has Bluetooth? All other options looked exactly like the Nuvi 350. Which Nuvi would that be?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to avoid toll roads with a Nuvi 760? I couldn't find an automatic function to avoid toll roads. Is this something one would have to do manually via Mapsource? I'll be making a trip to the east coast in a few months and I remember so many toll roads that I wish I could avoid.

Purchased Garmin Nuvi 770 in Nov '07. This was my very first GPS device.

It has MP3 capability which I found it not too useful. I don't mean it's bad. Just not too useful as we have other fantasitic MP3 players like iPod and such.

Would the current files work with Garmin Mobile XT ?

As suggested by some forum members here, I have loaded all of my POI files onto my nuvi 260 one at a time and renamed them as they go on so I can update individual files without reloading all of them. The problem I have is that the nuvi only shows the first 15 or so files. Is this a limitation in the nuvi's OS or did I do something wrong when I loaded all of the files?

I have a c340 with 4.4 software and preloaded 2008 Navigation Maps. I tried using the Garmin POI Loader to install a POI file (1,800 kb) and it says "not enough room".

I called garmin to ask size of internal memory. They did not have an exact figure (DUH?) but said that the 2008 Maps completly fill it!!!!

I only have a handful of "Favorite" pois saved on the unit.

I am so exited. I have just purchased my first GPS a Garmin nuvi 200. So I am also excited to find sites like this to help me learn how to use it most efficiently.

O.K. this may be strange, but there is an area that I pass everyday I get this warning. Hmm posted speed limit is 40mph, not 2. I had d/l the speed trap thing but deleted it to try to stop it from going off. But for the life of me I cannot find the POI that is doing that. Any idea on how to stop that?

Hi, I'm new to the GPS world, having just picked up a 200W in the after Thanksgiving rush. I see a lot of discussion about what version of the maps is installed on various units, but am not sure how I can tell which maps I have. Can anyone provide some info on how to determine which version is installed.

What is "MapSource Unlock" about?
What is "Unlock Code", and what can I do with it?
When it shows that my Garmin unit is unlocked, what does this mean?

Hello everyone. As you can tell from my question I am new to the world of GPS. I recently bought a Garmin C330. I only use it locally to find addresses for deliveries. My current unit warns me at .5 mile and at turn. I understand there are some POI's that would allow me to set more warning distances than those two. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would certainly appreciate.

Will the mapsource work with a Mac computer?

I have been on this site for a few days before just joining. As a newbie I'm trying to figure out the capabilities of my Nuvi 250W. Is my model able to download and use the POIs from this site? My map came pre-loaded so should I also get a DVD of my maps from Garmin? My so called "OWNERS MANUAL" is a "QUICK START" guide only. Is there a web location that explains the fine points of my unit?

I just got a new Nuvi 750 and have been giving it a few trial runs. First of all I LOVE IT! But I quickly found that many of the installed POIs (grocery stores, restaurants, etc) are seriously out of date. It has some listed that have been gone for 3 or 4 years. Other newer businesses are not listed. How does that get updated?

I have learn that icon should have the same name as the .csv or .gpx to display correctly on your GPSr.

If I have a .gpx for speed alert and each waypoint have different speed limit. How can the icon be displayed properly?

Should I have to split them into different files by speed?

Hello All! Brand new to GPS and just got my Nuvi 750 today. Tried to register it on garmin.com, but couldn't find the serial number. When you click the drop down on the site to find your model, the 750 isn't even listed!

For anyone looking at cases for their widescreen Nuvi's, I just noticed that it fits quite nicely in the zippered case for my Western Digital Passport Drive. It's just very slightly loose, but not a bad fit.

When you connect the USB cable to your 650, just hold the power switch down, release it and press the Power switch again. Keep holding it on the second press (you'll probably hear the beep tone). This will keep it from connecting to the computer (I have a Mac and the icons don't appear on my desktop) and it will say: "Going to Charge Mode...". Now, you can release the Power Switch.
