Proximity alarm

I have a Street Pilot c340. I really liked the POI for the rest areas here, as it is much more useful to me to have the route the rest area is on in a list box, rather than a nearby town listed (like in the default rest areas) and not be sure if the rest area is on my side of the interstate.

My question is: does a "proximity alarm" sound for the approach of the rest stops? I didn't see any way to select that when I installed the POI file. (I thought I read in a thread here somewhere that the POI installer gave the option of the distance at which the alarms sound. I didn't see anything about it when I ran the installer.) This evening I ran a "test" at home with the gps off, and had the unit simulate driving by a rest area. No alarm sounded. (I did have proximity alarms ON in the unit settings.) Should it have sounded, or would it only sound if the GPS was in use and I was really approaching a rest area? What would the proximity alarm look/sound like?

I plan to put in the cemetary POI file. Does it have proximity alarms, too?

I can see why alarms would be handy for red light cameras, possibly for rest areas, too, but not for passing a cemetary!

.

Certain words in the filename will automatically produce a certain type of alert. Such as redlight, camera, speed.

Numbers in the filename will be interpreted as speed alerts.

However, for "regular" POI files you can set alerts for them by running POI Loader in Manual Mode instead of Express Mode.

You can find more detailed information regarding alerts in the Help File of POI Loader.

Thank you!

Thank you!
