Garmin talk

I found a huge KMART which is pretty new but it does not show up in my Garmin search for shopping.

How do you report this to Garmin or whomever?

Is it possible to add custom POIs to an Ique 3200?

i have a garminc330 that i got when it first came out.

now ,i loaded some red light detection,is there a way to set this?or it is there as a ghost?cause i see no icon?and is it good for montreal?

a side from that is there a way to clean up the old poi's in this machine?without deleting them all..lol

The 750 has this really cool feature, however I find it quite cumbersome to access. Going through those layers and resetting to "Offroad" and/or "Pedestrian" modes is awkward at best.

Couldn't a macro be hacked to do this in one swell foop, or is it possible that Garmin will incorporate such a macro & assign it to an on-screen icon in the near future?

Just a thought.

In mid October my S/O and I took a trip to Sedona AZ from Dana Point CA where we live. Trip was roughly 500 miles each way.

The 660 was doing a great job until we decided to grab a bite. I did a check of the POIs that I had on the 660 which included a number that I had downloaded from POI Factory.

I've had a GPS-12 since 1999, and a GPS-V since 2001. Both units show Lat/Lot, and compass course in actual degrees.

The 660 is great for driving, but doesn't show this basic information. How are you all capturing the Lat/Lon for your POIs?

Seeing as Costco has the 650 at an incredible priice I am considering the 650 over the 680. What I would like to know before I buy is how good the Bluetooth functionality is on the 680?

Is the incoming number easy to see on the 680?
Is it easy to dial using the 680?
How is the sound at listening/hearing through the 680?

Any other comments?

I look about these forums and notice something blatantly obvious. Everyone is using a dashboard mounted GPSr. Is there anyone else using a handheld mapping GPS unit like me?

It would be really cool if there was a chart/graph/report which displayed the brand/models of GPS units owned/used. I supposed the information could be gleaned from the user profiles or a simple survey would suffice.

OK, time for a dumb question: having a nuvi 6xx/7xx unit hooked up to a (working) FM traffic receiver, what's the difference in enabling/disabling the "traffic" avoidance? Is there any?

I bought a Nuvi 200w last week and noticed that the voice prompts tells you to turn left and turn right when the road changes from a undivided to a divided road (and vice versa). You can look ahead and see clearly that there are no turns needed but the silly unit prompts to turn left and turn right instead of saying divided/undivided road ahead.

i was reading on gpspassion and seems like nuvi 260 and the "newer" nuvis don't have an alert "ding"?

I recently drove with my wife during rush hour in the Los Angeles area, where many freeways have car pool lanes. The GTM 20 did an excellent job of directing us off the freeway as it was backed up. But, this segment of I405 had a car pool lane and I thought I'd try it. Worked out great, most cars averaged about 10 MPH, we did 50's & 60's.

I am going to buy a gps system, and right now that garmin nuvi 350 is the one that I will probably buy. I do a lot of camping, and I was wondering if this model had campgrounds listed in the factory set POI's?
Any info would be much appreciated!!

I'm getting the error that this file is invalid/corrupt when I use POI loader. Has anyone else had this problem? The file size looks very small to me compared to many others and I'm just wondering if the upload got corrupted?

I'm debating between Nuvi 360 vs. Nuvi 660. I like the handy size of 360. But there have been a lot of negatives written about its bluetooth and speaker issues. Has Garmin done anything recently to improve these negatives?

Did you know that if you want to get to the speaker volume/ screen intensity window real fast, just tap the power button.
Providing you are not using screen-shot, the power button will take you straight to the volume and brightness screen. When you hit the "Back" button from there, it will take you right back where you were before that.

I was just wondering if anyone has found a way to disable the display of POIs (either custom or built-in)?

Subsequent to a Bluetooth Firmware update - maybe a week later - I put my unit in the car and, at start-up, it showed that it was "updating." It had completed this process immediately after the web update, and now, without an intervening connection to a computer, it's doing it again!

Why?

Not a big problem, but updates require re-pairing with the phone....

Wondering if anyone else has seen this...

I usually have my nuvi on map without a destination. Lately I've noticed that the screen changes after a few minutes (15-20 mins) from 3D view to 2D north up. While it was in 2D I touched the screen to see if it would switch to 3D but it just redisplayed the 2D map. If I choose a destination it goes back to displaying in 3D.

Thoughts anyone?

Yesterday and today my nuvi 200 did an odd thing. It is totally reproducible.

In southern MD, traveling west on Route 234, then turning south on 301, the nuvi acts as if this is one continuous road and does not give turn directions when coming to Route 301. The Turn in: distance is also for the two roads combined.

Has anyone seen this behavior before?
