I just purchased a nuvi 350 from CircuitCity.com and I was just wondering what the most recent map version for this unit is?
It is in the process of being shipped here, so I want to know what to look for to find a map version on the unit? If it is not the most recent, what are my options? Can I call Garmin and ask them nicely to upgrade me? How does (or does not) work?
Just do a search for v2008 and you'll find all the information you need, including how to find out what version is installed on your nüvi 350.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this was the first posting mentioning the maps would be called v2008:
Thanks FT. I actually found a thread "Did you get a free update to 2008 maps?" which will help me along the process as well!
Save your receipt and register your unit. Call Garmin customer service and they typically will send you the new maps at no charge if it is less than 90 days old. they will normally ask for a copy of your receipt. Good luck and enjoy the GPS.
I purchased a nuvi 350 on CC.com on 11/22 and picked it up in the store on 11/23. The version of maps on mine is "City Navigator North America NT 2008"
Garmin gave mine for free because I was under the deadline.
Same, mine has City Navigator North American NT 2008 already installed.
Any use in calling to get the disk sent to me?
What about MapSource? Do I need it? I have an unlock code that came with my nuvi, is that for the City Navigator North American NT 2008 maps that I can use within MapSource?
City Navigator North American NT 2008 is the most current map.
You don't "need" mapsource, search and you'll find plenty of threads on it. The unlock code will unlock mapsource.
I have a Nuvi 350 and I love it. It is fast, it does the job of letting me know where I am going...
I think you will find that if you use it, you will love it also. It's a great tool.
Good luck with it.
Now that you have the Nuvi, if you haven't already, I recommend the Garmin bean bag mount. It works great and allows you to easily remove the Nuvi and hide the mount when you're not in the car, so thieves don't get their hands on the Nuvi.
Mapsource is good for finding coordinates to build POI files. If you want a copy from Garmin I suggest you call and tell them you want it to manage your waypoints. They will usually send it to you for free. Use the search feature on this site for Mapsource and you will find several threads with info on obtaining a copy.
I have a nuvi 350 also just picked it up...
to update your maps download garmin's web update sw at
or you can go to garmin.com click on Support>Updates&downloads>Unit Software
that should get you all the new goodies. Also you can download new vehicles Icons and voices.
hope that helps
