Loading POI's into MapSource

Does anyone know of a round about way of getting POI files created by others into MapSource where thay could be subsequently downloaded into the GPS unit. I do a lot of planning in MapSource and would like to load the POI's that I need for a particular trip.

any gpx file

you can view/open/edit any gpx file in mapsource.

if you have a csv file you'll need to convert it to a gpx file.
you can use GPXtoPOI then open it in mapsource.

OR use Phil Hornby's GeePeeEx Editor It will import csv and convert to gpx, you can view each point on a map - adjust point location and use adjusted data - geocode using an address - view all file points on google earth - end up with dialable phone numbers, even an imported csv file with a phone number will become a dialable phone number since the file is converted to a gpx file...there is much more this neat program can do.

►** I checked the manual on your gpsmap76c, and see why you specifically ask about mapsource. Of course you won't be able to utilize the phone number stuff. You just need something to convert a csv file to gpx. Either program above will do the trick.

Thanks

Thanks much for the info. The GPXtoPOI program works great. Then I can get the POI's into MapSource where I can work with them such as changing the icons and so-forth. I took a look at the GeePeeEx Editor but I don't need it's capabilities since they are all available in MapSource. The GeePeeEx Editor would be a great program for someone who does not have MapSource.
Again - Thanks much for the info.

I beg to differ!

However, the GPSmap76Cx community is not its target market.

Sorry

I really did not look that close at your program so I should not have made any comment. I could see that it had much more capabilities than I was looking for. I do all of my trip planning in MapSource so I only needed a way to get additional info into MapSource.
I do have a question for a programmer like yourself. Do you know of any way that I can get the waypoint icons to show up only at certain resolutions in MapSource like the preloaded POI's do? I realize that even though we call them "POI's" they are really treated as waypoints in MapSource and on the GPS unit itself. There may be nothing I can do but just thought I would check.

I presume you mean, on the PC...when viewing with Mapsource? -- in which case, all I know about, is the "Map Detail Setting". But that may be applied literally to the POI's in the map, rather than Waypoints that you've loaded.
