Hi,
Could someone please tell me if the 260 has internal free memory and how large it is? I don't know if I will need a SD card or not.

The specs for that model state ""This USB mass storage device is compatible with Windows® 2000 or later and Mac® OS X 10.4 or later.""
You should be able to check the properties like any other storage device.

no
I don't have the device in hand yet, thus my question. Need to know if free built in memory is available, and if so how much.
Thanks,
Matt
yes
Built in solid state memory. As to how much, we'll have to wait for someone that actually has a 260 in hand to respond....or when you get yours let us know.

You probably shouldn't be too concerned with running out of space. It doesn't support mp3 or audio books.
Poi files and routes really don't take up much space, for example I have a csv file with 1869 points and the file size is only 256kb.
You can get a SD card, this time of year you can get them for almost free if not free after rebate and that's for 1 and 2 GB cards which will be plenty.

Specs
Brand new not yet turned on specs:
Capacity 1.21 GB
Used space 1.03 GB
Free space 179 MB
179 MB seems good since all my downloaded poi's are only 10 MB; room enough for a few pictures too. I'm glad I don't need a SD card right away.

You should have plenty

SD cards are really inexpensive - and that's the one(s)to buy for the gpsr. No need for high speed, high capacity etc. Plain Jane.
You can walk into Staples and get a 1gb card for 15.
Even less if you look online...I did a search and am posting the link for the first one I clicked on.
