Garmin talk

Hi all:

I've come to really like using Google Maps for route planning. But, I have not been able to download those routes to my home computer or my GPSr.

Some have suggested that I save my route as a kml file and then use GPSBabel, but I've not been able to save my routes to kml files.

I recently downloaded some POIs from this site. After loading on my NUVI 760 I can find them on navigate to them. However, if I am navigating to a route and try to find these business by going to "Near" the route I cannot see them. I have to go to "Extras" and click on POIs to find them. Any method to get these "extra" POI to show up on a navigated route?

Does anyone know if it is possible to convert a Nuvi 200 to a Nuvi 250. I am told that the units are identical in all respects except for the preloaded map. I have one in the family and am wondering if I can erase the main map file (Canada and border US states) and load the City Navigator NT 2008 maps into the main memory.
Will doing this brick the unit?

A very silly question. I just bought Garmin TOPO, Installed and uploaded all maps via MapSource.
How do I access TOPO maps? All I can see is my Custom POIs and normal maps. There is no sign of TOPO maps Help anyone. Tx

When I click shopping near me, then best buy does not come up, yet when I go to custom POI's, then the best buy by me comes up. I was wondering if there is a way for me to get the 340c to find the this best buy by clicking shopping instead always going to custonm POI.

I can move files from my garmin C510 to my PC but i cannot transfer files from my pc to the garmin street pilot.

Greetings everyone. This is my first post here on the POI-Factory, although I have been reading a lot since I first found this site just a couple of weeks ago. My eyes are now open to the many possibilities as this site has expanded the potential of my GPS. Thank you for all of the great information and tips.

Just playing with my 650 and notice after about 1 hour battery is down to 3/4 garmin adds state battery life of 7 hour apr. is this consumption about right?

I found a free database of Los Angeles red light cameras and loaded it using the POI loader from Garmin's website. However, today as I drove by some intersections the Garmin did not alert me to their presence. When I go through the menu to POI it shows them and it even showed an intersection that I drove through but alas no alert. Any ideas??

My computer dosen't save mp3 files with a visable extention. Do I just name it the same as the csv file and not worry about the .mp3 part?

I recently downloaded a file provided here and when uploading to my NUVI 760 I received comment that all points had been loaded successfully. However when looking for them on my 760 I cannot find them. Any suggestions?

Is it possible to enter a short comment, even a phone number, for my personal points of interest?

Question about managing routes. From what I have read, up to 10 routes can be stored on the unit. These units also have SD or micro SD card options.

I know you can do quite a bit with tomtom as far as hacking it goes.... but i'm curious to know if anyone has came across anything that can add additional functionality to garmin 250w.

If there is anyone who is disappointed with the built in FM trans on the GPS system (I have the 660) then I might have an answer for you. I just had a AXXESS iPOD Auxiliary input module installed in my Tundra truck. I got it at Circuit City for $49 and they installed it for $50.

I am getting married this weekend and just purchased a 660 for my honeymoon trip to Hawaii. I am not new to the forum world but I am new to this type of technology so let me apologize in advance as I am sure these questions have been asked many times before (I did search and read the FAQs page).

I received a Nuvi 650 for Christmas and had to return it when I discovered a broken contact point in the windshield mount. I upgraded to the 750 and have noticed a significant delay in aquiring the satellites. Is this a known problem?

I understand that custom POI's can not be used on the SD card in my c330.
But if I download maps from mapsource, will the POI's included ( NOT custom, not waypoints) be visible to the c330?

I find some dust inside the touch screen pad that make me annoyed. Is there any way to get rid of it?

Nuvi 350 occasionally shuts off by itself in the middle of rides especially when it recalculates.
anyone has experience of it?
