Garmin talk

Hello all, I recently got a new Garmin Nuvi 360, and already I have found that streets which have been made in the last couple years are not on my Nuvi, it even includes old streets which have been torn up. For example, HWY 40 in STL.... Is there a way to get Garmin to give me a free update?? Thanks!

Is the Nuvi 880 out on the market yet? If so, does anyone have it and do you like it? Thanks for the info.

I just got my first GPS it's a nuvi 660 and I was wondering is there a way to make the POI's larger? They are so small it's hard to tell what they are on the screen. I did a search and didn't find anything on this subject.

i have a nuvi 360, and i was wondering if it is possible to always have POIs visible, or if it is possible to have only certain POIs visible? we went on a driving trip this weekend across AZ, and it would be nice to know if there are certain POIs within a few miles of our route, whether they be restaraunts, gas stations, or interesting sites. thanks.

I was driving into work this morning and several times the gray box message pops up "XM reception not available" or something to that effect. Anybody have any idea what the heck that was all about?

Any ideas on whether the magnetic clasp on a case for the Nuvi will affect the electronics inside. I don't know how the gyro in the GPSr works and don't want to mess it up.

IIRC its not a good idea to have magnets around your electronics, especially receivers, HDDs etc. But then again the cases for PDAs, Blackberry's etc have magnetic clasps.....

Could someone see if they can locate "Veganopolis" in Portland, OR on their older Garmin maps. It doesn't show on the NT 2008 maps. However I had a friend navigating using his (at least) 2 year old Magellan and it shows up on that.

I've loaded POI files into my Garmin several times. I'm using the Garmin POI Loader and it's default for loading states "install new poi onto your device"

How do I keep files that I've previously loaded? I have not selected "remove all previously installed poi's"

I've seen this feature showing on Costco's website, but i hardly see the screen clearly under the strong sunlight.I bought it from Dell during Boxing Week. Does anyone know why?

Just got the 750... seems to work great no problems with it other than the nearest freeway onramp just got closed 2 months agao and the 750 keeps asking me to take that entrance... other than that it works great

If I look at the specs for my GPSr, on the Garmin website, it states that it has 500 waypoints.
Can someone explain exactly what this really means?

Does anyone know if any of the features such as POI Alerts or Tourguides work in the Garmin Nuvi 200. The Garmin instruction manual doesn't speak of any of this.

My 680 doesn't get signal when I'm in my 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid. Has anybody else experience this problem? It works well in my Truck. I called Garmin, they said it is because of all of the sensors in the car. If that is true, that sucks. Any advise?
Do you know if the 7 series Garmin has this problem too?

I installed a sandisk 2gb card. I downloaded music to it but nothing show up when I go to mp3 player. any ideas?

I'm not really sure what this is supposed to do. If I drive a route that is know is better than what the Nuvi is telling me, the Nuvi constantly wants me to correct my course back to its route. I thought perhaps the Detour function would allow for a re-route, but it dosent seem to actually do anything.

Anyone know what it is actually for?

I know with Tom Tom's, you can click for an alternate route, can you do this with a Garmin 650. If you can't I think this is a major downfall with the Garmin Nuvi series. Any ideas?

I have a new 660, it SEEMS to have lots of POI's in it already - for example it already looks like it has the flying J stops, do I need to add the POI file on this site ?

The problem is, Garmin POIs needs longitude in first column and latitude in second column of POI.

This gpsvisualizer.com site reverses the info and puts the longitude in the second column of its results.

Does anyone know how much MSN direct cost a year. I have a nuvi680 on the way that comes with 1 year free.
But I cant find how much it is when the free one expires.
