Garmin talk

I am using Garmin Mobile XT on my Palm Treo 700w and want to incorporate a voice file with some POI files. The POI files have been created with the .mp3 files (both named the same, except for the extension) in the same directory, but the .mp3 files do not play. Any advice and specific examples would certainly be appreciated.

Someone please verify what I already suspect. My friend just bought a 750 and has Mapsource that he got with his 2610. So he is trying to use Mapsource to create and upload a route to the 750. I am not familiar with his 750 but am quite familiar with Mapsource because I have a 2610 and a 2820.

I live in Vancouver B.C. Canada..Before I go out and buy the new 2009 map update...I would like to find out if there is any update in my area? Thanks!

I can get all the my custonmpoints of interest on my DS card, byt the alerts and icons are not showing up. Any reason why? Advice/help?

Here's my specific question which may lead to a more general discussion. Driving from downtown Los Angeles towards Irvine going southeast on I-5. Nuvi 660 wants to take me off I-5 to I-605 South and onto CA91 East and back on to I-5.

So, I just bought my new 780 tonight. My problem is that I have loaded poi files into it, but when I go to look at them on the computer to see where they have went I can not find them. The points show up on the map,but they are not in Garmin/poi like my 660 was. So where are they stored? I tried loading another set of points and it seemed to get rid of my first set. Anyone else had this problem?

How do I modify the files in my Rest Stop Folder so they function as Tour Guides? If this is possible, could someone provide an illustration> Do I have to change every entry in the folder (say, for Pennsylvania) or do I just change the name of the folder that I will save to my Nuvi 260W?

i turned off my 760 and can't turn it back on

i just put sounds on my nuvi 760 they are in my mp3 player i went on vacation and the sound alert did not come on for example i passed a dunkin doughnuts and the sound was supposed to say the name and alert me any info on this would be great thanks

I have tried over and over again and I can not find a way to save the current location. Frequently addresses/locations are not in the s/w and I would like to save a location so the other users of my 330C can goto them easily.

I was messing around (god knows what I was doing) but when I tryed to pen up my poi loader the following text came up.. The same held true for web updater and Garmin communicator

Unable to create a temporary folder to extrat to.

Possible Causes: You dont have proper permission to create files or folders in your temporary folder. See your system or network administrator.

I am trying and trying to set my home location and everytime I check to see, its in Kansas.. I am from WI.

i just got the garmin nuvi 750 and i was wondering if there is a way of putting tractor trailer routes on it

i could use a hand. I purchased the Nuvi 750 as well as the newly released City Navigator NT for Mac. I downloaded the Garmin Webupdater as well as the Garmin mapmanager and Garmin communicator. I can create routes on my laptop. My laptop recogizes my nuvi. On the left hand side of the screen, I select the route that i created and then click the "send" icon at the top of the page.

We went on a long trip (4 hours) a few weeks ago and the stuttering on the 760 was unbelievable. I hadn't noticed it all that much until this trip, but as the day went on, the stuttering seemed to get worse (or it just got more on my nerves).

Just check the Garmin website.
Looks like release 3.10 is now available.

How do you set different distance (feet) for different types of POI for the Nuvi 760? Example: rest area, red light cameras or is it built into the csv file.

I am just learning how to download and have run into a problem. I downloaded the walmart poi and on my computer screen it showed that it was finished, but now I cannot find it on my device. Isn't it supposed to be under extras as a custom poi? Please help a newbie.

I am just getting started with POI files and enjoying it. I have successfully installed some in my Nuvi but now have seen one on bridges that is a zip file. Do I install that with the Garmin POI loader just like any other file or does it have to be unzipped (if that is the right terminology) first? As a senior citizen I am simply not up to date on things like this and need some hand holding!
