TourGuide no longer works with nuvi250W

After I used WebUpdater 18July which brought my software version to 3.60 TourGuide no longer works. I had done a successful local trial of TourGuide previously with the alert point off my simulated route. It no longer works when I repeat the identical scenario or even if I locate the alert on route. The alert POI is on an SD card and is shown in POI
Extras. Three files were loaded with POILoader 2.5.2:
TourGuide ALERT_SPECS.csv
TourGuide ALERT_SPECS.bmp
TourGuide ALERT_SPECS.wav
If I delete TourGuide from the file names and reload them the alert works OK.

Originally "Tools >> System >> About" gave:
Software Version 4.40
Unit ID xxxxxxxxxxxx
Audio Version 2.20
GPS SW Version 3.00s

and it now gives:
Software Version 3.60
Unit ID xxxxxxxxxxxx
Audio Version 2.20
GPS SW Version 3.00s

Anyone else have this problem?

Previous software version

Garmin Help assures me I made a typo in recording my previous software version - it must have been 3.40

Strange..

I just updated my Unit and I have been fighting to get TourGuides working.I wonder if Garmin Disabled this "Feature"

Ok SO I have been having problems making TourGuides.. I have been getting help from another user. He just sent me one he "Compiled" in gpi and it worked fine in the new firmware.. So I am guessing the latest firmware is ok.. But that is a guess..

software vers 3.60 is not the cause

The were two effects in a combined csv distance alert file and wav file:
no alert sounded nor icon showed if the file was named TourGuide
no red alarm bar (but double bong sounded & custom icon showed) if not named TourGuide.

The cause was including a WAV file which was not 44.1Khz. I have included a file SOX.EXE in the POILoader program folder I understand it is called by POILoader if a WAV file is detected and is supposed to check that it is 44.1Khz 16 bit mono. I presume SOX.EXE or POILoader did something strange in this case - possibly because of the odd way I created the WAV file by combining the double bong wav file extracted from the nuvi English_American_.vpm Voice file with a text-to-speech wav file.

Keep a careful eye on the

Keep a careful eye on the version of Sox you get.. I am going to post here but the Cygwin one does not work correctly. There are 2 versions on the sox download Make sure you get the one that is a single EXE and does not have any Dll's When I straightened it out everything went ok..

The other big gotcha... is how many bits it is sampled at... Make sure it is 16 bit..
