Nuvi 360 POI Alerts

Hi,
I had loaded the POI's red light and Bank of America on the 360 with POI Loader it worked before now when I was sitting across the street at a light it didn't alert me, I have deleted it, is there something I did wrong?

Did you try to reload it?

Check the alert to see if it is turned on.

Across the street from what?

If you were across the street from a B of A, remember that redlight POIs alert automatically because of the word "redlight" in the name, but other proximity POIs do not alert unless you set an alert -- typically by running POI Loader in manual mode.

Alert is on, installed it

Alert is on, installed it manually will try again Hmmmmmmm.

regular POI files do not alert by default. As several others have mentioned, you must SET an alert. You can do so in a variety of ways.

If you run POI Loader in Manual Mode instead of Express Mode, you can manually set whatever alerts you wish.

Check out Phil's great guide for more information about alerts.

Also, be aware that alerts will only sound if you are on the road on which the POI is located, traveling in the direction of the POI, and if the POI is located sufficiently close to the road (typically 50 feet).

Still can't get the voice to work. I removed the POI's then I reloaded the POI again without the mp3 file and the default dinging worked and even the upper bar alerted me of a Dunkin Donut, these were the only 2 points I installed, but can't seem to get voice working renamed it as per FAQ's I read, maybe they don't work on a Nuvi 360???

.

They should work with that unit.

Did you TRIPLE check to be sure that you don't have double file extensions?

In the File Browser on your computer, be sure that the folder options are set to not HIDE the file extensions. If the file extensions are hidden, you may inadvertently end up with Dunkin Donut.mp3.mp3 which will not work.

Also, triple check the spelling of the file names including punctuation and spaces.

Thanks for the quick reply. This is what is in my Dunkin Donut Folder Dunkin_Donuts_USA_Canada.csv, Dunkin_Donuts_USA_Canada.mp3

Are you using windows?

While you are looking at the file. Did you got to tools>view> scroll down to hide extensions for know file types and make sure it is not checked?

Good Mp3 files, downloaded them from this site.

.

Yes, but sometimes files don't download correctly. Try downloading them again.

Also, are you placing the MP3 file and the CSV file in the same folder on your computer when you load them with POI Loader?

Alert

Thanks Mama again, yes I've reloaded the mp3 files and they're ok. The sample of Dunkin Donuts I have in the folder above, is that correct?

Update: Just tried out the alert for Dunkin Donuts and now it works "Oy" must be those little green men running around in there, next up Bank of America.

Update2: Loaded Bank Of America...NG also Dunkin didn't work, the greenies are back.

Did you get no alerts, only red bar, or red bar and default audio?

Got nothing

Well

That tells us that the problem is not with the mp3 file. How far from the street is the POI (the coordinates)? They should be right next to the street, certainly within 50 ft. The sporadic nature of the problem makes me ask the question.

They were all within 50 to 100 feet, I manually set them to 50 feet.

Ok, so several things must be in place in order for alerts to sound on the unit.

The alerts do NOT function as a radius, but rather they function as an "along the road" alert.

1. You must SET an alert either through information in the file or via POI Loader being run in Manual Mode and an alert being manually entered.

2. Alerts must be enabled on your unit.

3. You must be traveling on the road on which the POI is located and traveling in the direction of the POI. And you must travel within the set alert distance.

4. The POI must be sufficiently close to the road (typically 50 feet or less).

Set What?

Are you saying that you manually set the alert distance to 50 ft using POI Loader? If so, that is your problem; your alert distance should be much more, typically 1000 ft or more. I'm not clear what you meant by them all being within 50 to 100 ft.
