Nuvi 660

My Nuvi 660 just up and quit on me this past week. Fortunately it is still under warranty. I am interested if anyone else has had issues with the 660 not being able to link up with satellites.

Satellites

Sounds like something similar to what happened with my 660 last year. Others have experienced similar problems. In my case my 660 was still under warranty and I received a refurb which is still working great today. Please check this link.

Nuvi 660 cannot find satellites

I have a 660, the first one got returned at 9months under warranty, the next one waited until the warranty expired and Garmin just wants us to send the $225 for a repair. Both of them had the same problem, suddenly can't find satellites. Downloaded new software, do all the resets, no avail. Is this an $800 piece of trash???

I had 3 660s quit on me. Usually the battery dies.
Garmin is stupid to think anyone will pay anything more within a year or so after spending 800 bucks on the unit.
They wanted me to ship it at my cost and they would send me a refurbished one. Screw that, they know its a known issue.
I just took it back to costco and got a 760 for less than what I had paid for the 660.
Garmins needs to wise up and stop ripping off its customers or make a better product.

No Problems Here

I have had no problems with my 660. I haven't seen a common problem with the 660 on the messageboards. Just seems like a problem that tends to happen to all their units during satellite acquisition.

Refurb 660, 680

I've got a refurbished 660, and a refurbished 680, both purchased (on eBay) for around 4180 each. No problems.

I've had very good experiences with Garmin warranty and service -- as long as you keep in mind market economics, and not what Garmin wants the market to be -- as I said, refurbs with 1 year warranty are available for << $200.
