Garmin talk

I have a Garmin c330. I recently purchased a lake lot and took my Garmin unit with me the first time I went. After I got there I wanted to set my location much like I do my home location and mark it as "Lake Lot". All I could find was a way to identify it as "002". The unit would not let me save it with a simple easy to remember name.

I would like to ask the community to check there states, for error's or missing locations in this file , i feel a fresh set of many eye's would bring some missed parks or errors to light . below is the site where i located all of the parks.

Maybe a little late cause I am leaving for Maui in 6 days but anyway, I am looking for some POI's for Maui. I have downloaded the Hawaii 2007 POI from this site, but noticed some additional folks had mentioned they would add to the list. If you have something and want to share it I will take it anyway you want to send.

Vacation bound

Noticed an oddity with my 760 the other day. I have my home location set a few feet into my driveway. That's where I was parked when I set the Home location. It's about 10 feet in from the street to where the Nuvi is in the car.

If I select "Go Home" it will say "in point 1 miles, arrive at home - on left" when I get approach my home.

I will soon be working out of state on a gas drilling rig. Typically, the rigs are "out in the sticks." Thinking of my wife visiting and my not having a street address to give her to put into her nuvi, will the nuvi find my work location out in the country if I give my wife the coordinates to put into it, just as it would if it had a street address? I've never tried it.

Sorry if this has been covered but I have a few questions. I did do some reading but missed the answers if they were covering in this forum.

1. What is the largest (meg/gig) SD card I use can use in my C340? -- I have the newest update to the garmin firmware.

I have been surfing gps stuff since I bought this nuvi 350 in May. Yesterday I figured out how to use google's send to gps, but i discovered when i go to favorites and find a "sent" location, i only see the name and coordinates for the location.

I'm getting better but still need a little information. How do you start a route that you have saved and then include the POI for Rest Areas and State Parks and have them all work together. The route would be loaded from My Data>>Import which puts it in the Tools>Routes. So you start that and then how do you start the other from Where To> Extras> Customer POIs?

(I hope this isn't a duplicate, I haven't seen it covered previously)

Garmin has a 72MB download and I found it will install the WW basemap on the Nuvi 360 and I suspect other Garmin units. The actual map itself is 31MB. It took quite a while to load.

OK, so I went to see what new Garmin vehicles they have and now there are planes on there.....(I've never seen them list planes before).

When extra POI files are loaded into the Navigator 350 does it modify the existing file or does it add it as a seperate file?

I am not sure why this is so. I connected the unit to my laptop, and the Communicator test page said it was connected.

Then I tried to do as they said, have the unit on (it is listed in MyComputer as GarminNuvi E drive) And then I ran Webupdater.

It looks for devices connected and says it "found some devices," but none which would qualify for updating.

Was wondering if i can add sounds to my 530? I have a 580 and it works for the poi's i loaded but i can't seem to get it to work for the 530.

I have finally come to a point where I want to listen to audio book through my Garmin 350.

I searched and searched and have not found what I was looking for in POI Factory files. So I am asking for help.

I am wantings to listen to audio books (in mp3 format) that I have downloaded and put on my SD card under the folder Garmin->Audio Books.

Just installed the Kenwood DNX 8120 with Garmin GPS built in. Do all Garmins fill the screen with information and not just the map? I just want a full screen map when I am driving around. Is that too much to ask for?

I've been watching the satellite page on the Nuvi 880 while it is mounted in a north-facing window of my home. (I used to watch Windows defrag details too...)

Since I upgraded my 760 to the 2009 maps, it has been frequently locking up on me. It completely stops responding to everything other than a reboot.

I have spoken to Garmin about the issue and they are willing to swap out my unit for a new one.

However, I was just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this issue?

During the past few months of owning my nüvi I have had proximity alert POIs for coffee shops set at 4000 ft. However, the bong-bong default alert seems to be inconsistent when it comes to pointing out an establishment well within that distance. Granted, at times it's a relief not to hear the alert because in some areas there seems to be a shop on every block.
