Setting Proximity alerts

I am assuming you are using the POIloader supplied by Garmin. When you get to the screen where you select the files to upload... Instead of using express mode you can choose manual. Click next and you come to a screen where you can set proximity alerts for your POI files. It gives you a choice of speed or distance. Are you using redlight or speed in the file name? There are several helpful hints here and on the internet for setting up your Nuvi. Note: I have been told that you should remove all previous POI files and then re-upload them as you make changes. I keep all my POI files in one folder on my PC which makes it easy to upload.

POI LOADER

Yep sure do use poi loader and have all in one file on my pc - also using red light / speed camera / and do use the manual mode when setting alerts - what I was asking is what recommemdations for those alerts. I leave my red light / cameras alone but have used alerts from 1.5 miles to a quarter mile - was just wondering if anyone had a happy medium - never thought about removing previously installed pois when updateing - will thy that
thanks
